Doctor insights on:
Lining Of Uterus Too Thin
OB monitoring: If you are now pregnant, your OB-GYN will monitor the thickness of the endometrial lining with periodic ultrasound measurements- this may be normal for you; however, it should be checked regularly.
Pregnancy: If you are pregnant the lining of the uterus should not be thin. It would look enlarged on early ultrasound
I've read that lutera not only suppresses ovulation but also thins the uterine lining. When I stop taking it will my uterus go back to normal?
Yes: Most oral contraceptive pills (ocps) thin the uterine lining. Think of it this way, many doctors will prescribe ocps to treat heavy menstrual bleeding because the pills work to keep the lining of the uterus thin; therefore, minimizing monthly blood loss. This does not damage the uterus. After discontinuing pills, your uterus will be normal.
I have been told my uterus lining is thin after my 2nd c-section. Unfortunately, my 2nd child died and I want to have another child. What do I do?
Discuss with OB: A thin uterus could mean a higher risk of uterine rupture during the late stages of pregnancy or during labor. Please discuss this at length with the ob. If s/he thinks the risk in your case is small, pregnancy would be an easy option. If not, risk of your own life and the baby would be possible.
I have a regular 27day cycle. Period lasts 2days light flow. Does that mean my uterus lining is to thin. I ovulate every cycle confirmed by bloods.?
Everything's normal: Regular ovulatory (cycles in which ovulations take place) menstrual cycles, a history of several pregnancy with a childbirth all indicate that the hormonal feedback cycle in that particular woman are fully intact as is the inner lining of the uterus. No reason to be concerned that the lining could be too thin.
I was told after my 4th child that my uterus lining was very thin plus I was forced to hav tubes tied and burned or clipped and burned can I fix this?
? forced /fixed?: A very thin uterine lining means you would be at risk of uterine rupture during any pregnancy along with catastrophic internal bleeding and death within an hour. You should consult with several specialists in this area before you try to have anything reversed.See 1 more doctor answer
Not always: Any birth control pill can act differently with a variety of patients so the answer is, not always.
Do consecutive failed zygote implantation affect fertility? My uterus lining will be recovering from a marina coil removal (which thins the u wall out)
Fertility recovers: The Mirena (levonorgestrel) releases progestin which thins your uterine lining and makes it unfavorable for implantation. Once the Mirena (levonorgestrel) is removed your lining recovers and your fertility should be back to normal very rapidly. Not getting pregnant the first 2 months after Mirena (levonorgestrel) removal does not affect your future chances, but at 32 you should get pregnant in the first year of trying. See your doctor if not.
Upon removing cervical polyps, does one have to take birth control to keep the uterus lining thin or can this be done with the use of birth control?
At times chlomid can thin the lining if uterus. What are the affects of this side effect? Miscarriage? Failure to implant?
Implantation defect: Clomid (clomiphene) may cause the endometrial lining to not grow sufficiently to allow for implantation of an embryo. Checking the lining of the endometrium before ovulation can show if this might be an issue. Estrogen can be added 4 days after ovulation to improve the lining in some cases.
My uterus lining measured 5mm 7 days after ovulation. Is this too thin to conceive? We've been trying for 8 months following a miscarriage at 6 weeks

Very sore in ext. Vaginal area I avoid sex and in menopause. Waiting for results from pelvic ultrasound to see if uterus lining thin. Suggestions?
Vaginal Estrogen: When you are in menopause, your body stops making estrogen. Since the vaginal tissue is very sensitive to estrogen, it can become thin and lose its ability to stretch. When you have intercourse, you can actually get micro-tears in the vaginal wall that are painful. These symptoms usually respond to a vaginal estrogen cream or tablet. Don't have intercourse if its painful. Best wishes!
If I understand: If I understand what you are saying, you're asking how to make a period lighter by having less uterine lining to shed? If that's your question, the answer is, you should consider oral contraceptives or birth control pill. The pill tends to make women's periods lighter and shorter.
What did your doc: Say? Your doc should have explained all of the possible causes to you, could be from too much estrogen building up benign tissue, could be form intrauterine polyps or fibroids, could be from pre-cancer- hyperplasia or endometrial cancer if you were my pt I would do an in office hysteroscopy and biopsy to r/o anything bad and then I can rec txmnent, hopefully your doc does this in the office.
Lining of uterus: When the lining of your uterus is thick it means that either you are in the last phase of your menstrual cycle or also it can be due to pregnancy. However, medical conditions of the uterus can also resemble a thick endometrium, like endometrial hyperplasia (pre -malginancy) endometrial polyps, or uterine fibroids.
Highly variable: Depends on multiple factors, including reason for d&c, age, underlying health, and so on. Talk to your gynecologist.
I have had what looks like my lining of my uterus come out but I haven't bled just spotted two days before but only for that day. Why could that be?
Maybe polyp? Period?: First of all, be sure you were not pregnant. But if that is neg, then you likely shed a polyp. sometimes the whole uterine lining sheds (called a cast.) but unclear why that would happen just at that time. Unclear if you were due for your period. Bottom line is if recurrent abnl bleeding happens (like more than 7 days or more than 3 heavy), then see your gyno to evaluate.
