Bro taking zyvox, (linezolid) now has mouth sores and possible hemorrhoids. He informed the doc but nothing was done. Is this a normal side effect of the drug?

Unlikely: Side effects of linezolid(zyvox) include diarrhea, nausia, and headache most commonly. Also vomitting, insomnia, constipation, rash, dizziness, bone marrow suppression, seratonin syndrome(fever, agitation, mental changes, tremors), neuropathies, and lactic acidosis. No definitely not: Zyvox, or linezolid, has great activity against Gram Positive bacteria. Serratia however is Gram Negative. Those classifications have to do with the structure of those different classes of bacteria. Make sure you ask your doctor 'what' is the rationale for treatment.
