Cool soaks and rest: Dark circles occur when the blood vessels beneath the skin show through in those that have thinner skin in this area. Allergies can make this worse. Use allergy meds as needed and try cool soaks to the area. You can probably make it better, but not get rid of these entirely. This is genetic and not a disease. ...Read more

My work involves consistent use of computers (8 hours a day min). My eyes get tired by the end of the day. I can't rest because of work. Suggestions?
Our eyes were not designed to focus on near objects for hours at a time without breaks. It's important to take at least 20 seconds every 10-20 minutes to focus on distant objects- you can also massage around your eyes, breathe deeply and move them in a circle.
See http://www. Allaboutvision. Com/cvs/irritated. Htm for more suggestions related to monitor settings, work station etc.

Difficult decisions: I don't know the work you do - but if there is risk of injury to yourself, others or the work itself - I certainly understand how bad this is. Most folk can't easily afford to risk jobs or even a day's pay and that makes it harder. If you have a HR dept or a union, I'd contact them for guidance. If your supervisor is good, that's also a possibility. I wish things were different - sorry! ...Read more

Computers = eye strain? I spend a lot of time in front of a computer monitor, both at work and at home. Before I log off at night, I often find my eyes feel tired and/or dry. Should I use eye drops, or do I need to get a life away from my computers? Is st
Working: Working at a computer screen for long hours is very tough on the eyes, for two separate reasons: 1) when you concentrate on computer work, most people blink less than they should. Under normal conditions, the average person blinks once every 5 seconds, but when using a computer, many people blink only every 8-10 seconds. This can cause the eyes to feel dry and become red and irritated. The solution is to rest the eyes throughout the day, if only for a few minutes each hour. Eye drops will not help much. Fish or flaxseed oil pills (omega-3's) help a great deal by making the tears a little thicker. 2) if you are over 40, you might benefit from reading glasses while working at the computer. Oftentimes, the reading glasses sold in the drugstore (no prescription needed) will do the trick. ...Read more

Check your thyroid: Your symptoms are not specific to any one disease. However, I would ask your doctor to examine your thyroid and draw blood work to test your thyroid function. All of your symtpoms have been described in Graves' disease which is an autoimmune disease affecting your thyroid as well as the muscles of your eye. This can cause one or both eyes to appear swollen and bulging out. Good luck. ...Read more

Thanks for the: Great job you guys do. If this is just a recent problem with long hours you may be just preoccupied and can try some Benadryl (diphenhydramine) at bed for a couple days. The eye issue though may be more difficult as it may be a contact in too long, a conjunctival abrasion, viral or allergic conjunctivitis. Have dr. Rutledge or your personal doctor take a look. Try some artificial tears until then. ...Read more

Been feeling eye tiredness, and using glasses for that same issue, still passing much hours on the PC and now feeling pressure on my head, from eyes?
Probably dry eyes.: In my experience, most people who describe "tired eyes" really are complaining about dry eyes. Sitting in front of a computer for extended periods of time is probably the most common cause of dry eye symptoms. We all have a tendency to stare at the computer screen and that's what causes the problem. You can use artificial tears as often as you like when you're sitting in front of the computer and. ...Read more
