It's been like two weeks after my colonoscopy and I feel nauseous once in a while is that normal?

It's been like two weeks after my colonoscopy and I feel nauseous once in a while is that normal?

Not usual: Nausea should not be a part of the after effects of colonoscopy. I would suggest you call your doctor and discuss. Something else is going on. Depending on the findings at the time of the colonoscopy and whether you started on some medical therapy for those findings, the nausea may be related to that therapy. But if no therapy was initiated, this is an unrelated symptom after 2 weeks. ...Read more

Would two previous c-sections (last one 3 years back) make a colonoscopy more painful? I need to have it without sedation so i'd like to prepare.

Maybe: Hard to know. There is an increased risk of scar tissue so that could make the procedure more uncomfortable. However, a pediatric colonoscope may help. Share your concerns with your gastroenterologist and they can probably help you get through it. Good luck. ...Read more

Bowel prep: Hi. For the bowel prep, stop any diabetes drugs that can cause hypoglycemia (insulins, sulfonylureas, meglitinides); continue the others. After colonoscopy, start back all your regular diabetes meds. Good luck, and no polyps! ...Read more

I was told to not fly for two weeks after removing a polyp during a colonoscopy. Is this really necessary? I have a business trip planned in 4 days.

Probably not: If your colonoscopy was without incident, uneventful, and if your recovery has been that way also, I believe you should be able to go to your business trip. However, please let your doctor know about this and take his advice also. ...Read more

I had a colonoscopy and it said findings terminal ileum two small areas of shallow ulceration not otherwise normal just wanted. To know what that?

Possibly nothing: We sometimes see these. They may be nonspecific and related to preparation artifact. They may also be related to medications you may be taking such as nonsteroidal medications (ibuprofen, naproxen, advil). Inflammatory bowel disease is also a consideration but is less likely based on your description. Make sure to followup with your doctor who did the procedure. ...Read more

I had a Colonoscopy 10 day ago, no bm so took senna, it worked two days later. Next two days, very small soft bm. Two days now nothing. Is this norm?

Colonoscopy: It is normal to have irregular bowel movements for several weeks after a colonoscopy. There is no need to take laxatives in this setting. Your best bet is to eat lots of healthy fruits and vegetables and cereals containing fiber, along with more fluid intake, and let your body reestablish your normal bowel patterns. Good luck. ...Read more

Yes if it was: A difficult scope. Best to notify the endoscopist so that they can offer the best advice based on the difficulty of the procedure. If you are also running a fever with no other cause you should immediately notify the doctor who did the colonoscopy especially if it is not getting better or is getting worse ...Read more

Friend rx'd "Suprep" for colonoscopy in 3 full doses am/pm/am. Drug instructions are TWO doses which worked 4 me. I'm worried about this off label rx?

Go with instructions: Best to go with the instructions from your doctors office, or with something that has worked for you in the past. If you have a question about it, ask the pharmacist to look in to the matter. They will help you sort it out. You can always call the doctors office to make sure the instructions are intentional as well. Hope this helps! ...Read more

Colonoscopy 1 yr ago found 5 polyps; two Tubular adenoma under 2cm, two 2-5cm, one Tubulovillous 10-20CM. Successfully removed. When should I go back?

Five years: Recommendations are that if you have adenomas five to ten years. Normal ten years. Two small adenomas should not change this UNLESS you have risk factors such as a positive family history.
In your case I think it reasonable and consistent with the guideliines to repeat in five years. ...Read more

There is mucus in my stool and it hasn't gone since two weeks. I'm under medication but the doctor wants to do a colonoscopy on me. I'm 19 n scared?

Sounds appropriate: Your doctor's decision is a good one. Understand how you could be anxious about undergoing this procedure, but generally it is done under sedation so that you are not likely to remember what took place. As for the results, it is better to know what you are dealing with than to go on medications without a specific diagnosis. Good luck. ...Read more

Two days fasting / preparing before colonoscopy/endoscopy and now three days constipated. What should I do? Should I take laxative?

Two days fasting / preparing before colonoscopy/endoscopy and now three days constipated. What should I do? Should I take laxative?

Not sure: Your colon was likely cleaned out completely for the procedure. Not going to the bathroom is not really constipation as its defined by hard bowel movement with lots of straining involved. Unless you have abd pain or distention I wouldn't be too worried about it. Try some prune juice and if that doesn't help you can try over the counter miralax (polyethylene glycol). If you have hist of constip start taking a stool softe. ...Read more
