Maybe SLE maybe not.: Diagnosis of rheumatologic disease is generally based on symptoms with support from lab. Sounds like you have a rheumatologic disease and are being treated with a rheumatologic agent perhaps by a rheumatologist. They can explain your particular situation better, but suffice it to say tests are not always right and a single test does not generally make or break a diagnosis.

Despite drinking plenty of fluids, head feels foggy & lightheaded for days after being in the sun. I'm being treated for almost lupus. Why does the sun affect my head?

Sun can flare SLE: Although we don't have all of your data, there are people with lupus who are sunshine sensitive. The sunshine can activate systemic lupus erythematosus. The mechanism is not completely clear but disruption to skin, free dna from the cells, that can stimulate the lupus response. Sun protection is an important part to your therapy.

Brain inflammation: In diseases like lupus, the brain itself can become inflamed causing the symptoms you describe. It is very important that you partner with your doctor regarding these spells. Prednisone is usually effective.

How to reduce dizziness during a lupus flare?

How to reduce dizziness during a lupus flare?

SLE: Lupus can cause dizziness by different mechanisms. Dizziness in lupus may be related to vasculitis, anti phospholipid anti bodies with clots, anti bodies to component of inner ears called immune mediated inner ear disease. Other disorders that cause dizziness may coexist with lupus. Keeping lupus under control and identifying the cause of dizziness and treatment of the cause would help reduce.

Is low bp and lightheaded spells a common thing in people with lupus? I never had this issue before I had lupus?

Is low bp and lightheaded spells a common thing in people with lupus? I never had this issue before I had lupus?

Side effects: This could be side effects from medications we use for lupus rather than direct effects from lupus itself. Stay well hydrated, use suncreen, and follow up with your doctors as recommended. Best wishes

I've had a severe headache coupled with occasional dizziness and nausea for 17 days. Also symptoms elsewhere...Chances of lupus?

Not: Typical initial symptoms of lupus. Is you headache on one side and pounding? Does light or sound make it worse? You may be in a bad cycle of migraines. Relax. Does not sound anything like lupus!

Is blood pressures of high 90s/50-60s considered low if it's making me lightheaded & foggy and fatigued? My normal BP is 114/70s. I also have lupus.

Is blood pressures of high 90s/50-60s considered low if it's making me lightheaded & foggy and fatigued? My normal BP is 114/70s. I also have lupus.

It would not be: Uncommon to have symptoms of light-headedness, dizziness and perhaps fatigue with systolic blood pressures in the 90's though many people tolerate this blood pressure satisfactorily. First, try to increase your fluid volume by drinking liquids, especially those with electrolytes including Gatorade. If you don't feel better and BP comes up, contact your Doc or go to ER/Urgent Care. Blood loss?

On prednisone 4 lupus. Helps resolve lightheadedness/black outs. Started on 40mg. Stuck at12.5 mg despite being on methotrexate. Sx return at10mg. Normal?

May be not: Prednisone for long duration is not good. If Methotrexate does not control you symptoms, then its prudent to discuss the options with your rheumatologist.

Autoimmune related autonomic deficiency (also have lupus)causing dizziness. What are best tx options for dizziness? Predisone resolves it

Autoimmune related autonomic deficiency (also have lupus)causing dizziness. What are best tx options for dizziness? Predisone resolves it

Prednisone not alway: Automomic problems can be due to neurological dysfunction and lupus inflammation can damage this control but if Prednisone works consider whether their is adrenal kinsufficiency rather than dysautomomia - or both.

I have well-controlled lupus & also have POTS syndrome. If I sleep poorly (mostly due to nocturia)I am lightheaded most of the next day. Due to POTS?

I have well-controlled lupus & also have POTS syndrome. If I sleep poorly (mostly due to nocturia)I am lightheaded most of the next day. Due to POTS?

Monitor.: You need to be monitored to determine if the lightheadedness is related to tachycardia. If it is there is a new medicine that is available for inappropriate sinus tachycardia. It is not yet FDA approved for same except in CHF patients but could be used if clinically indicated. Why do you have nocturia?

Frustrated, migraines, lupus, pd, osteoarthritis, raunoids, dizziness, memory loss, loss of concentration, is there any way to deal with this daily?

Frustrated, migraines, lupus, pd, osteoarthritis, raunoids, dizziness, memory loss, loss of concentration, is there any way to deal with this daily?

Lots of treatment: It would be good if your treatment providers could become a team. It may still be a fantasy, but one to work towards. A powerful therapist might be able to corral all of these folk to coordinate care. Failing that, that therapist might help you accomplish that, at least in part. I wish you success and would value feedback if you can do it!

I have lupus. Why do you think prednisone always helps my lightheadedness &brain fog? No exact cause of these symptoms has been found.

I have lupus. Why do you think prednisone always helps my lightheadedness &brain fog? No exact cause of these symptoms has been found.

? lupus cerebritis?: Lupus can involve brain directly and cause either low grade cognitive problems or even more severe delirium. Prednisone is both an immune modulator and anti-inflammatory, and subdues these sxs. However, there could also be underlying metabolic or chemical imbalances secondary to your regular meds or even the lupus, and that too might respond.

Have stable lupus but now struggling with low blood pressures, lightheadedness, and polyuria nocturia. Could these 2 be related?

Have stable lupus but now struggling with low blood pressures, lightheadedness, and polyuria nocturia. Could these 2 be related?

Lupus affects kidney: Lupus is an auto-immune disease that may have effects on almost all the body systems. It is well-known to affect the kidneys, which could then lead to changes in blood pressure (which would cause the dizziness), and the changes in urination. Even if your previous lupus symptoms have been stable, it's best to go get checked out. Don't wait, because of the dizziness and low BP.

Classic lupus symptoms for 5 months but all tests negative also have raindrop sensations, dizziness, pins and needles, muscle weakness. Any ideas?

Trial of therapy: There are not a lot of things that look like classical lupus so if all the symptoms are there even with negative tests I would treat it and see if it gets better. Also there are things that can cause a lupus-like syndrome. Usually the cause is a medication like procainamide, hydralazine, or infliximab. The list of medications is extensive so google it if you take lots of medications.

May be cardiac SLE: Can't tell for sure but can be cardiac involvement and thus there is a need for an evaluation
