Is laser eyelid surgery a better or safer option than traditional eyelid surgery?

Is laser eyelid surgery a better or safer option than traditional eyelid surgery?

No: Eyelid surgery can be done with traditional knife, laser or radiofrequency. The technique used by your surgeon is more indicative of safety than the instrument used. Now in the hand of the same surgeon radiofrequency is safer than laser and that is safer than the knife, because of the ability to cut and cautherise at the same time with a more precise cutting ability. ...Read more

Yes: Tumescence means injecting a particular fluid to a certain quantity prior to removing the fat. Traditionally, less fluid was injected and there was more blood loss within the removed fat. Nowadays, most liposuction techniques ( regular, ultrasonic, power assisted etc) almost always use tumescence to minimize blood loss. ...Read more

Pros and cons for chemical peel vs. Microdermabrasion vs plastic surgery for wrinkles?

Pros and cons for chemical peel vs. Microdermabrasion vs plastic surgery for wrinkles?

Wrinkle treatments: Chemical peels and lasers may be used to treat wrinkles. Different peels and lasers will treat at different depths of the skin. The deeper the treatment, the longer the recovery and the greater the risk for complications to occur. Microdermabrasion will help give a "fresh" appearance to the skin but will likely not significantly improve wrinkles. ...Read more

How much bruising and swelling will I have after the lifestyle lift? Is swelling less than a traditional facelift? I would like to lift my eyes and reduce my wrinkles. I was looking at having a facelift and then heard about the lifestyle lift. Is one proc

As : As a former surgeon for lifestyle lift, i would highly recommend inquiring with your local facial plastic surgeon about minimally invasive facelift procedures. The original lifestyle lift procedure has a short lasting effect which you will likely have to repeat within two years of surgery. There are similarly minimally invasive facelift procedures that may be done under local anesthesia that are more efficacious. That said, there is minimal swelling after minimally invasive facelift surgery, the bruising really depends on how easily you bruise and whether you follow the post operative instructions you are given by your surgeon. Generally, it is advisable to avoid alcohol, Aspirin or nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (motrin, advil (ibuprofen) etc). The bruising ranges from mild to moderate and is easily camouflageable by concealer makeup which can be applied as early as the next day after surgery as long as it is not applied over the incision lines. My warmest recommendation is to at least inquire with your local facial plastic surgeon about the indication for surgery and your options. The lifestyle lift company has a tendency to push its doctors and consultants to suggest surgery for nearly anyone walking in the door. ...Read more

Facelift: what is currently the next best procedure out there that comes anywhere close to mimic a traditional facelift? Ultherapy?

Facelift: what is currently the next best procedure out there that comes anywhere close to mimic a traditional facelift? Ultherapy?

Not really: A facelift will reposition the soft tissues of the face to a more youthful position. The current emphasis is much more on fat repositioning than fat removal. A facelift will not treat fine wrinkles in the skin. Surface treatments such as skin care, peels, and laser treatments will do this, but will do nothing about sagging soft tissues like a surgical facelift. Close but no cigar... ...Read more
