Maybe: I advise my patients on vitamins by using this analogy: vitamins are like your car insurance; you hope you never need to use it but it's nice to have when you do need it. If one always eats a variety of foods, 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day, low saturated fats and high fiber, then one probably does not need vitamins.
