Life Expectancy Of Stage 4 Lung Cancer Without Treatment
My mom has stage 4 lung cancer with no biopsy no chemotherapy or treatment what is her life expectancy?
Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more
Depends: All limited! but if small cell, short. Others relate to cell type, location of metastases , other personal risk factors. 1-4 years, few at five. ...Read more
Greatly depends: That depends on many factors: the type of cancer, how much it has spread, whether it is responsive to treatment, whether you have received treatment, etc. Etc. Stage 4 lung cancer no chemo tumor grew & cancer spread, clinical trial only now, on oxygen for sob, blood clots in legs, what is life expectancy?
Hard to say/depends.: At this stage of lung cancer, the options are limited as is survival. If treatment is done , it's usually chemotherapy and radiation and/or surgery after adjuvant chemotherapy. There are certainly trials out there and i would recommend talking to your doctor before starting any, but the chance for success is likely limited, as the 5 year survival of stage IV is <5%, but it doesn't hurt to try. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

That being said, the median stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer life expectancy is about 8 months. Five year survival is only 1%. ...Read more
Mom was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 6/12. They are unsure if it is small cell /non small cell. 1st chemo drug did nothing . Life expectancy?
Curious. Not good.: Rarely tumor cells can mutate in a way that it is difficult to differentiate between types of cells. First i'd make sure they have done all possible studies on the tumor cells to define its type. If first line chemotherapy did nothing then it's possible that trying ctx aimed at other type of lung cancer could identify its type and help moreso. Survival more than a 6-1mos is unlikely if no ctx. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
