Generic acetaminophen rarely works for my headaches but name brand Tylenol always does. Why is this? I thought it was the exact same thing?
They should be:
However the generic medicine manufactures are only held to a 70% purity when producing generic meds. Really with a generic med you are not getting the most pure form of the drug that is why it costs less aslo. Brand name tylenol is techiquely acetaminophen and it is 99% pure. In essence the brand tylenol will for the above reason will appear to be stronger.

If two of the same ingredient are in each product - for example, two antihistamines - and especially if both products contain acetaminophen, do *not* take both. ...Read more

What's the least organ damaging/most body friendly of the OTC painkillers? Tylenol, (acetaminophen) Advil, or Aleve? (I realize those are brand names...)
All are safe: None will injure you used as directed. Some folks get elevated liver function tests from even a little Tylenol (acetaminophen). Advil reversibly damages the kidneys if you get dehydrated on the stuff. Same for Aleve. Some folks get liver sensitivity to any of these. I would choose the one that gives you the best pain relief, drink plenty of water, and not worry about this. ...Read more
