Lidocaine Half Life
1mg dose of klonopin (clonazepam) lasts for about 8 hours.Half life 18-60 hours. The half life seems meaningless if it only therapeutically works 8 hrs.Explain?
Therapeutic: Of course these are just standards for a general population. But, therapeutic levels represents a blood concentration that is high enough to see the effect of the medication still working. Blood levels of the chemical/drug/medicine are detectable but not at a level to provide with the well known effect of the medication. ...Read more
Metropolol half life is 3-7 hours. How can Metropolol Succinate stay in the bloodstream for 24 hours if half life is only 3-7 hours?
They are different: Metoprolol does have a 3-7 half-life, but that’s metoprolol tartrate, which is immediately absorbed into the bloodstream. The succinate version of metoprolol, however, also comes in a tablet (“extended-release”) that gives a person small amounts of medication over 24 hours. So the half-life - the rate the person eliminates the drug - is not different, but the rate the tablet releases it is. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
How long is Extended Release 2mg Xanax (alprazolam) half life, compared to 2mg Klonopin half life?
Xanax (alprazolam) XR vs Klonopin: The half-life for Xanax (alprazolam) XR is short 10.7–15.8 hours and the longer-term efficacy of Xanax (alprazolam) XR has not been systematically evaluated. Klonopin has an unusually long elimination half-life of 18–50 hours, it considered the longest-acting benzodiazepine. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
If klonopin (clonazepam) has such a long half life -- 18-50 hours according to wikipedia -- why do its anxiolytic effects only last 4-6 hours for me?
Clonazepam duration: Here is one possible reason:clonazepam plasma levels are very unreliable amongst patients. Plasma levels of Clonazepam can vary as much as tenfold between different patients.En.Wikipedia.Org/wiki/clonazepam also you are not alone: www.Socialanxietysupport.Com/forum/f30/klonopin-halflife... These half life figures make no sense to me, k helps me for about 4 hours max. ...Read more
Klonopins (clonazepam) half life is listed as anywhere from 18-50 hours--using 600 tegretol would it fall near the 18 hour mark? Thanks
Longer.: I use Tranzene.Get a more detailed answer ›
Depends.: I am assuming you are talking about the half life of a drug. A drug with a 25 hours half life means that after 25 hours, the blood concentration of the drug will be halved. So at hour zero it's 100%. At 25 hours , the concentration is 50%. At 50 hours, it's 25%. At 75 hours, it's 12.5% etc. Please note that using half lives is an oversimplification and doesn't always correlate with drug effect. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Take 75mg of atenolol. Trying to withdraw 1mg of clonazepam been in it 4 months. Cut dose in half. Notice HR 55-60 withdrawal?Take less atenolol?
Valium-If the half life is up to 100 hours, but peak plasma is 1-1.5 hours, but the drug is effective for 6 hours. Please explain these relationships.
Valium metabolism: Valium, a benzodiazepine, t1/2 is 20-70h. That's a wide range. Time to onset (oral route) is 30 - 90 minutes. has active metabolites, so there are actually two peak plasma times. Active metabolites also cause it to be effective longer.Do note, however, that 1/2 life tells us how long it will take for drug to reach steady state & for 1/2 diazepam 2 b cleared, but not about active metabolites. ...Read more
Is the half life of plavix (clopidogrel) 75 mg. Approx. 6 hours and peak time 2 hours after dosing has been done several months?
Why in the nursing manuals is klonopins (clonazepam) half life listed from 18-50...Why such a big variance?
People differ: Good question. People differ in the rate that they absorb, break down [metabolize] and excrete the break down products [metabolites] of klonopin (clonazepam). All this leads to variation in the time it takes Klonopin (clonazepam) to leave the body from the time the pill is swallowed. ...Read more
