Lidocaine possession: Lidocaine is a medication that only a physician can prescribe. It is my understanding that possessing it without an appropriate prescription from a medical doctor is in violation of most state statutes. You should check with your local law enforcement officials. ...Read more

Hello Dr Druz, on February 24, I had a dental visit. The dentist injected 4 needles if lidocaine and epinephrine. Withing 1 minute I started experiencing tremors, hot flashes, cold hands and feet, fatigue. 911 was called, I was then taken to the hospital
Be careful: You most probably had a reaction to the epinephrine or it was injected into a blood vessel. In any event make sure you tell anyone working on you and they want to give you an anesthetic injection tell them what happened and insist they use a different anesthetic besides lidocaine with epinephrine. There are plenty other choices ...Read more

What to do if I have lidocaine hci 2% and epinephrine 1:1000,000 injection viles what whould happen if I drank it?
Bad idea: It begs the question as to WHY you would drink it!! A substantial amount of the Lidocaine and Epinephrine would be absorbed into your blood stream very fast through the mucosa of your mouth, throat and esophagus. Your heart would begin to beat rapidly/erratically, your blood pressure would rise, your mouth would get numb. If you drank ENOUGH lidocaine, you would have a seizure and possibly die. ...Read more

I'm allergic to lidocaine & epinephrine used for dental & dermatology procedures & need to know what local anesthesia is ok for sensitive persons.
Can lidocaine be used without epinephrine? I have SVT & I need a tooth pulled. Epinephrine causes SVT to act up. Can I just have lidocaine used?
SVT and Lidocaine: Good question! Local anesthetics can be used without epinephrine(epi). The reasons epi is added to local anesthetics include, to increase their duration of action, decrease their absorption into the circulation and decrease bleeding. In dental procedures these are good things. SVT is a dangerous condition that can lead to a heart attack so avoiding stimulants such as epi is recommended. ...Read more
The dentist may use anesthetic such as 0.3ml lidocaine with 1:100, 000 epinephrine. Would this interact/ have problems with my heart or BP medication.
Stress from the procedure, particularly if you were not numb, would cause your body to release more Epinephrine than what is in the local anesthetic.
That said I do try to error on the side of caution depending on the heart condition by not using the maximum dose(approximately 8 full injections) and breaking up multiple procedures over several appointments. ...Read more

Hello, I am having a bump removed from my eyelid and will be given Xylocaine (lidocaine) with Epinephrine. I am currently Breastfeeding. Will this be a problem?

Can using 0.3ml lidocaine with 1:100, 000 epinephrine during dental work interacts with bystolic, (nebivolol) benicar/hct or isosorbide mononitrate medicine.?
Probably not: Although Lidocaine is a vasodilator, there is no clinical evidence of any drug interactions or special precautions needed. However, if during the injection, some anesthetic were to be introduced directly into a blood vessel, the Epinephrine could cause a minor and short acting increase in heart rate. ...Read more
I was injected with epinephrine lidocaine in index finger swelled with fluid and was very painful. A surgen removed the blister like skin along with the nail up to the knuckle. The nail grew back, yea.

I : I do not know if you will regain the lack of sensitivity or reduce the pain. I can suggest that you look into medical acupuncture to decrease stagnation of blood, lymph, electrical (nerves) energy and qi. I have seen remarkable improvement in numbess, pain and range of motion with medical acupuncture. ...Read more
But when it comes to local anaesthetics during ear, nasal or throat surgury, are lidocaine and cocaine interchangable? Or is that fair to say, somehow cocaine=lidocaine+Epinephrine? Thank you very much!
Cocaine or LA w/epi: Because local blocks often require several additional injections, many surgeons prefer general anesthesia or deep sedation. ...Read more
Epidural test dose: Some question context may be missing... A small dose of xylocaine (lidocaine) with adrenaline (epinephrine) is used to test for proper epidural catheter placement. Very little of this test dose gets to the mothers blood streem or the baby. Many anesthesiologist choose not to use this combo for testing epidural catheter placement for other reasons, though. ...Read more
I am 17 weeks pregnant and I have an appt with my dentist to get a filling. It is recommended to receive lidocaine with epinefrine (pregnancy cat b)?
I ve had neurologic reactions to low doses of local anesthesia 1 2 of a small vial or carbocaine and also epinephrine topically fine with lidocane an alergist advises using gas from now on however I have a root cnal and several deep filing replacements am
A safe choice : Would be to have a dentist do the work in a hospital setting with a board certified anesthesiologist. You will be monitored during and after the procedure for complications. One option for you that avoids local use would be to have general anesthesia. Not a common choice for root canal, but maybe appropriate in your case. ...Read more

Hi, a Dr. recommended me to get 'lidocaine to the nerve';which I understood to be an injection for pain to the right testicle. Is this safe and needed?
Here are some...: Intractable testicular pain after ruling out infection, inflammation, torsion, etc., may require further diagnostic and therapeutic effort with local nerve block with lidocaine. Furthermore, cutting off the offending nerve fiber (neurectomy) may be even required for long-term treatment. Remember: Nothing is free but everything always comes with its consequence. ...Read more
