None: Unfortunately there is no studied over the counter treatment for actinic keratosis (ak). Since ak is a form of precancer, it is important to have it treated before it progresses.

Don't be nervous: If you are not satisfied with the DR's descriptions, have another discussion with the Dr before you do it. There are various approaches to AK. PDT is certainly a good one, briefly annoying, but effective. You might ask to be presented with a few alternatives so you can choose one yourself. None of them are dangerous.
