How to remove head lice?

Various methods

Lice
A 1% permethrin shampoo is a common 1st step. The lice by themselves will wash out when dead by simple shampooing. The primary problem is the egg casings that attach with a glue like material to the hair shafts & may allow a new crop of lice to emerge. A rinse with a vinegar solution will loosen the nits & they can be combed out with a fine tooth comb.

Dr. Robert Kwok answered:

Headphones and head lice?

Earbuds are ok

Pediculosis
Lice prefer hair and scalp, but they run around quickly and could end up on headphone head bands (although it seems unlikely to happen). Earbuds are ok, because there is almost no place for the lice to hide. If a person is worried about using somebody else's headphones, he can keep them in a plastic bag for 2 or 3 weeks before using them. By then, the lice should have died.
