Entyvio Vs. Mesalamine : Entyvio and mesalamine are different types of medications. They can be used separately or together. The goal of Biologics such as Entyvio is to induce remission, while mesalamine derivatives reduce inflammation but do not induce remission. What is the difference between asacol (mesalamine) and lialda. Do some people have different side effects to one vs the other/?
See below: Both meselamine (5-amino-salicylic acid).Lialda is long-acting and is taken 2Xdaily.Asacol (mesalamine) is not long acting and is taken 3 Xs daily.Asacol (mesalamine) is no longer available in the U.S.but can be obtained in the rest of the world and it is MUCH cheaper than Lialda.You can fax your prescription to a Canadian pharmacy for asacol(different trade name but same thing) if u have to pay Lialda out of pocket.Best ...Read more
I take 4.8 g of lialda for my ulcerative colitis. There is a possibility I took one extra 1.2 g pill today. Is this something to be concerned about?

Lialda dissolves very slowly, so why does its label say "take with food"? -- why would it matter? Any pharmaceutical reason i must take it with food?

Yes: Another cause of similar symptoms to to irritable bowel and ulcerative colitis can be celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. The test is very accurate to rule gluten sensitivity in or out.
