1 mo. 10mg Lex did nothing. 1 mo.of Effexor (venlafaxine) XR and only s/e. Switched to 20mg Lexapro & after 6 days no signs of anything at all. What's my deal?
Patience: Unfortunately it sometimes takes several trials to find the right antidepressant that helps you without causing side effects. Lexapro (escitalopram) is a very good antidepressant, but 6 days isn't enough time to judge whether the 20mg will work for you. Antidepressants have a cumulative effect that builds up over time. Give it 4-6 weeks before giving up on it. I know you'd love to feel better now, hopefully soon ...Read more
I stopped taking Lexapro (escitalopram) 3 days ago after a month. No withdrawal so far. Chances it'll still happen?
Not likely: 1 month is not that long of a course to develop a significant reliance on the medication and you should not have any significant withdraw from dicontinuing it. Everyone metabolizes medications differently, but also the fact that after 3 days off, and you have no issues, that also suggests you will be fine. ...Read more

I started Lexapro (escitalopram) 3 days ago and am experiencing worse anxiety and dizziness. Is this normal?
Dose dependent: Side effects. One has to remember that lexapro (escitalopram) is quite potent. Usual guideline I use is 5mg lexapro (escitalopram) is equal to about 20mg fluoxetine (Prozac). So make sure your dose has started out low and gone slow to adjust upward. Too fast and yes, side effects like you describe could be experienced. Please speak to your doctor asap about all possible causes and adjust medication as necessary. ...Read more

Took Lexapro (escitalopram) 2 days quit Sunday cause side effects, when will these terrible side effects go away? Bad nausea, fast heart, burning in skin.
Unsure: I'm not sure what your symptoms are from. It is possible they are from the Lexapro, (escitalopram) but they could also be due to another medical issue. It would be important in your case to return to the prescribing doctor for assessment and treatment of these issues. Stop but tell Doctor:
Since you have only been on it for 5 days and that is not a high dose it should be OK to just stop, though if you had been on it longer I would suggest reducing to 5 mg a day for a while. Please tell your Dr. that you stopped.
You don't say why you stopped but it can cause side effects and it can take time to see the benefits.
There are other treatments you can try- please see my comment. ...Read more

I've been on 10mg of Lexapro (escitalopram) for 3 days and the side effects are bothering me. Is it ok to reduce it to 5mg for a few days? My Dr. is unavailable.
Try 5mg AM & 5mg PM: Does your Dr have a backup? That might be worth a try. Otherwise, since you've just started it, early short-lived side effects are common and may disappear on their own. Another reasonably safe way to lessen them may be to take half in the morning and half at night. That's probably less risky than half dose per day. As you know, keep Dr informed ASAP!
