Levolin Syrup For Infants Cough
Cough syrup, Nosal drop and steam are not affecting much for my 1 month infant, can I give him nebulizer with saline water.
? irritants?: The first months are troubled by narrow nasal passages exposure to dust, fragrances, smoke & other irritants. This often ends as congestion & produces rattling with breathing. The best rx is washing out the nose with saline & SUCTIONING the remainder. Eliminate irritants from babies environment & this will happen less. Cough syrups make them worse. Nasal drops without suction are a waste of time. ...Read more
The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system. Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more
Is it ok to take Bromfed (brompheniramine) dm cough syrup with infant acetaminophen? Is there a waiting period before giving between the two?
Typically for infants, using nasal saline drops, humidified air for croupy cough, and keeping the baby well hydrated is advised.
If your infant has a fever, prolonged cough, worsening respiratory symptoms and/or is not feeding well, it is particularly important to follow up with your physician. I don't recommend cough syrup in younger children. ...Read more

In the field of medicine however, it is used to described the intermittently abrupt episodes of cough that is often seen in children with Chlamydia pneumonia. Take care. ...Read more

See below: Per fda recs, no otc meds for kids under 4 year old let alone under 1 year of age! And as per these meds for your infant, I can't understand why your doc would do this period! cough meds are not beneficial especially in and infant and can, in fact, cause problems like increase the risk of developing a pneumonia. Many: Continuous cough and runny nose in an infant should be discussed with your doctor. Treatments vary based on the cause, so a careful exam should be done by your pediatrician. ...Read more
My infant boy has picked up an ugly cough. How can I treat it? He's 23w (19 corrected) 2nd vaccines done 2 days ago. No fever or vomitting
Treatment varies: There are no cold and cough treatments for infants. All of the over the counter medications have no effect and can be harmful to your baby. First have your baby examined at his Doctor to make sure that he does not have any signs of infection. If symptoms are viral then normal saline for the nose and humidified air can be helpful. If you are breastfeeding that is the best medicine. ...Read more
Infant is 12 weeks old. Affected by cold n cough. Have got appointment by doctor for vaccination.. Baby is active. Can it withstand for vaccinati?
Depends on. . .: Babies ages 3-12 months can easily catch colds from other people. If there is just a runny nose, without much fussiness, without any high fever, without other worrisome symptoms, then parents can leave the nose alone. If the mucous is blocking the nose somewhat, try a few drops of saline, followed by gentle suctioning with a suction bulb. A doctor should examine younger or more symptomatic babies. ...Read more
No: In order to give the infant protection from the vaccine being given to you, it would have to have been given while the baby was inside, in utero. Now, the baby can get immunity through his/her own vaccination only. Of course, you and any caregiver who comes in close contact with baby should have updated vaccine. That is, anyone holding the baby. ...Read more

My infant is five months has a dry cough for a week and has a runny stuffy nose no fever should I take him to doctor is it a cold?
Cough: It is always hard to know when to take your baby to the doctor. If he is eating, drinking, pooping, peeing and acting otherwise well and having no fever then I would say no. If he has any trouble breathing, the cough becomes worse, he gets a fever, he becomes lethargic, dehydrated or you are just too worried then get him seen. Worried Mommas are always right. ...Read more

Empiric treatment: Often doctors don't know what the cause of a cough like illness is, unless they have done specific testing for it. Sometimes there are clues that make a clinical diagnosis easy, but it's always good to have confirmation with a lab test-then the best therapy can be prescribed.
