Level 1 Vs Level 2 Ultrasound
My LMP was february 23, 2014 had two ultrasounds both showed gest. Sac w fluid but no baby just got back my hgc level and it was 7, 278 what can it be?
An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more

Could high levels of hCG point to down syndrome? Mine were around 245, 000 at 9.2 weeks. Have had ultrasound and only one baby.
Range for normal HCG: Levels at 9-12 weeks lmp is 25, 700 – 288, 000 miu/ml, so yours is ok. At 11-14 weeks, a skilled ultrasonographer can determine if there is increased fluid under the skin at the base of the fetus' neck, a sign that other screens or diagnostic tests for ds are neeeded. A "quad" test that measures 4 pregnancy hormones screens for increased risk of certain birth defects including ds at 16-18 weeks. Read more

Hello, as per my question I have two cysts that have been under a ultrasound test. One of the cysts is calcified, what does this mean? The Dr advised it shouldn't be sinister but what does calcified mean?
Calcified cyst: ovarian cyst? Ovarian follicular/ovulatory cyst are not calcified, which means that over time, calcium minerals have begun to form in the lining of the cyst (similar to minerals forming on the lining of your shower). To give advice, we need more info because calcification can occur on both benign and malignant types of cysts. Read more
I've been given two due dates one went off of my ultrasound which read my due date would be September 25 and my last period reads September 22. I had?
The same really...: Since the u/s is only a few days different than your due-date from your last menstrual period (LMP), most providers will keep the original LMP date. Ultrasound isn't perfect. There is a known error range. The size of the error range depends on the gestational the U/S was performed. Earlier ultrasounds tend to be more accurate than later ultrasounds. Best wishes! Read more
How frequent is it safe to do ultrasound? Within month I had two ultrasounds of bladder and kidney and one echocardiography, is it safe?
If I had sex with two guys, one blew one didnt, ultrasound shows conception on 16th that's the guy who blew, is he most likely the father?
Probably: If you know the date of conception based on your ultrasound and you had sex on that day with one particular person then that person is the most likely father of the baby. If you had sex with the other person in the days around that date he may be the father. There are 5 million sperm in pre-ejaculatory fluid so whether it ejaculation occurred or not is not particularly relevant. Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Pain in one calf, tender to touch and walk on. Two ultrasounds say clot is negative, can they both miss clot in calf?
Possible: If your ultrasound was done in an accredited vascular lab, the sensitivity is very, very good. That being said, even the best trained technicians can miss things, so if you are still concerned, talk with your doctor. Read more
Can I get infections after a transvaginal ultrasound I'm 50yrs old never had problems down there had a transvaginal ultrasound 4 months ago now have CID I've had two partner's in my life present one for thirty years?
I had my period on April 9th. My periods are fairly irregular by a week or so. My ultrasounds measure two weeks behind my LMP due date. I've had one done at 5WKS (too small to tell), 6WKS5DYS, & 19WKS. They all gave me the same due date by except 2 days.
Use ultrasounds: Your ultrasounds all give you the same due date within 2 days. There is absolutely no reason to think that the calculation using your last period is going to be more accurate. Read more

I have two lumps in neck, one above clavicle and one In neck had a ultrasound which showed reactive lymph nodes. Am waiting for a blood test?
Sounds reasonable: Lymph nodes can enlarge in response to an infectious or malignant process but sometimes they actually develop something similar to an infection even though no other infectious symptoms. In that case antibiotics are used to treat. At times more obscure infectious causes are at work and several different blood draws or imaging may be needed. If nothing found a biopsy of the node may be required. Read more
When you get an obstetrical ultrasound, does the machine add one or two weeks gestation? Today it said I was 5weeks5days and I was on my period then
Gestational age: When we talk about gestational age, we count for the first day of your last menstrual period. That convention goes back to the days before we understood when ovulation and conception occurred, and the only event we had to go by was the LMP. Now we understand that ovulation occurs two weeks later. So, if you were 5 weeks and 5 days, then conception occurred about 3 weeks and 5 days ago. Read more
I have been in pain for over half a year and I finally got it checked out and the doctor hasn't answered me for two weeks now. They were asking me about cancer, tumor, and clot history in my family. They did an ultrasound and one of my ovaries looked like
Sounds complicated: Call the doctors office and make a followup appointment. Pain for a 1/2 years deserves a face to face appt with the doctor who can examine you show you the results and review the US. The doctor will come up with a plan of action treatment plan. Two masses in breast, one is cyst, the other is BIRADS 4a subtype, accroding to ultrasound. Would you surgical removmal, biopsy or conservative waiting?
See a breast surgeon: I am not concerned about the cyst. But the second mass has been read suspicious/abnormal by the Radiologist. Most likely it is a Fibro-adenoma which is a benign tumor, mostly occurring in young females. Fibroadeenomas can be manged in 2 different ways but it requires a Surgeon to make this decision. It could be removed if it is large (>3cm) or observed by your surgeon. He may or may not biopsy it f Read more
