Levaquin (levofloxacin): There should not be any problem taking Levaquin (levofloxacin) after Doxycycline unless there is history of allergy to Levaquin (levofloxacin) or a history of prolonged qt interval which can precipitate arrhythmia (torsades de pointes).

Dehydration: Dehydration can occur easily when a patient has an infection. An infection can cause a fever, even when the patient isn't always aware, and the skin flushes, with more fluid evaporating. In addition, if a patient isn't feeling well, they often don't drink or eat as much as they typically do. Patient's who are on other medications, including cardiovascular medications, can be more sensitive to the effects of dehydration. Signs of allergic reaction to a medication usually includes rash that is usually hives, swelling, itching, or shortness of breath.

A partner may have chlamydia. Would levofloxacin 500mg per day for 7days work? Or should I try to get doxycycline? Could I take both?

Chlamydia: Levofloxacin will no longer treat gonorrhea. And, it does not in any way treat chlamydia. If you need treatment for both you will need a shot and then pills for chlamydia. The shot for the new version of gonorrhea spreading around the world is known as ceftriaxone.

Maybe: If there is an infectious component to something called epidydimitis, it will help. Low risk if problems from a short course of antibiotics. Definately worth a try.

Please answer! Are there any common bacteria BESIDES std related ones that doxycyline will treat that levaquin (levofloxacin) doesn't treat effectively? Prostattitis

Please answer! Are there any common bacteria BESIDES std related ones that doxycyline will treat that levaquin (levofloxacin) doesn't treat effectively? Prostattitis

Yes, but...: There are several bacteria that might respond to doxycycline if levofloxacin doesn't work, but unlikely in this case. If you had an STD, almost certainly levo would have worked -- for example, chlamydia and most cases of nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). True prostatitis is uncommon at your age, and when present usually is nonbacterial and most antibiotics are ineffective. Discuss with your doctor.
