Depends on goal: These are both vegetables. The steamed carrots have higher nutritional content and assuming you eat the lettuce without dressing, there are more calories in the carrots. Can you tell me how come you can get e/coli from lettuce, green onions ect should be washed before you eat but, mushrooms?
They can all have it: Any produce grown or processed near livestock or meat products may be contaminated by e. Coli. In general, you should wash your produce carefully and consider steaming, boiling or sauteing your vegetables, if you are worried about getting sick. I ate tiny brown slugs in organic lettuce by accident. Can this cause disease? If so what kind of disease. I am quite concerned.

The problem is that in VERY RARE cases, they can carry inside small worms that can cause disease in humans. There have been some cases of meningitis reported in Hawaii, New Orleans and the Gulf.
