See below: Easiest way is to do the plate method. 9 inch plate, 1/2 of which will be vegetables, 1/4 carbs ( small scoop of potatoes/ rice/ pasta, or small piece of bread) , 1/4 protein ( size of a dec of cards for lean meat), fruits over pastries if possible, snacks in between should include small carb and protein, exercise 30-60 min a day, start slow if you have not exercised for a while. YOU NEED A STATIN!!!: Hi. Don't feel too ebullient getting your LDL from 230 to 190! Both numbers are awful. What's your family history of heart attack? Overweight?: Your mom's diagnoses often go together with overweight, which can cause each of them. I would recommend a calorie restricted diet, with particular attention paid to avoiding high glycemic foods, like potatoes, bread, rice, sugar, cakes etc. Daily exercise would be important too, aiming for 45 minutes each day, aiming to get a little short of breath and sweaty.
