I have been reading lately on the health benefits of drinking hot water with fresh lemon juice.I have gerd, will the lemon do me more harm than good?

May actually help!: Many people find that drinking lemon juice actually helps GERD! However, any benefits are temporary and purely symptomatic (like the drugs that are commonly used). For an excellent and thorough discussion of how to cure GERD by addressing the underlying causes please see http://chriskresser.com/what-everybody-ought-to-know-but-doesnt-about-heartburn-gerd ...Read more

There are also dairy products, particularly the low fat variety, which many people can tolerate. Although your choices are somewhat limited, you are not restricted completely just to water. How do you feel about taking apple cider vinegar in water 3x per day instead of rinitidine, omeprazole, or Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) for gerd?

How do you feel about taking apple cider vinegar in water 3x per day instead of rinitidine, omeprazole, or Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) for gerd?

Worth a try: While the drugs you mention are proven to help reflux, they can have serious side effects, some even life-threatening. While I am not aware of research on apple cider vinegar for reflux, it is a widely-used folk remedy that has helped many. If it doesn't help, you can always try the drugs, or try other home remedies and herbal medicines. See http://www.Earthclinic.Com/cures/acid_reflux2.Html#acv. ...Read more
