LBA under 30: I assume there is no radiation so this points to localized lesions in a "youngster." See your doctor for an x-ray -most likely spondylolisthesis-a developmental instability in the 4th or 5th lumbar vertebra. Less likely is arthritis from old injury or a birth defect. Avoid twisting: Repetitive torsional (twisting) activities such as an improper golf swing or twisting to put something on the shelf can aggravate the lumbar discs and contribute (in additional to normal wear and tear) in part to it's degeneration. Yes: Herniated disks that are cause of sciatica pain typically get worse with sitting, bending at the waist, and definitely worse with bending/twisting and raising a heavy object. Try avoiding these positions/activities initially. Typically most herniated disk pain improves on its own by 3-6 weeks.
