Pain: Perhaps instead of using a roller which causes friction and increases temperature further in your already inflammatory state, you use a cold pack. This will decrease blood flow and reduce the pain you are perceiving from inflammation. Likely muscle: What where the circumstances when the pain started? Anything palpable? Any leg swelling? If pain feels only when walking it's most likely muscular/tendon/ligament in origin.
