Stability: They provide stability and less stress on the ligaments and joint when you move/walk. The idea is to decrease strain on those joints with the brace and hopefully the body can then heal any tearing or damage that was present. Yes.: The mechanics of walking are off with an injured ankle. It would be easy to also injure the knee in that way. Possibly, yes: Tibial plateau fx.'s commonly involve the posterolateral portion of the plateau. If u had an orif here then early chondral wear (arthritis) could be developing. May be from back: Pain that follows this pattern may be coming from the spine, especially if it radiates bellow the knee.
