78 yrd uncle has lung cancer bone mets now weakness in legs, blood transfusions 3 x pwk & referred to palliative team. How long left approx.?
Difficult to say: I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. We try to refrain from "predicting" when an individual may succumb to an illness because truly there are too many factors coming into play. That being said, usually palliative care referrals imply that the patient is not expected to survive more than 6-12 weeks more. We don't have crystal balls and frequently patients surprise us.
Stage 4 lung cancer no chemo tumor grew & cancer spread, clinical trial only now, on oxygen for sob, blood clots in legs, what is life expectancy?
Hard to say/depends.: At this stage of lung cancer, the options are limited as is survival. If treatment is done, it's usually chemotherapy and radiation and/or surgery after adjuvant chemotherapy. There are certainly trials out there and I would recommend talking to your doctor before starting any, but the chance for success is likely limited, as the 5 year survival of stage IV is <5%, but it doesn't hurt to try.See 1 more doctor answer
Doctors said I have anxiety. Scared that I have lung cancer which makes me think it's cause a blood clot cause my calf hurts. Could this be anxiety?
GO TO ER If: If you are obese or sedentary, have new onset calf pain with redness/swelling /pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, anxiety, bluish skin. These could be signs not of cancer but a clot traveling from leg to lung which is a pulmonary embolism. Life threatening. Please seek medical attention immediately. You are describing classic signs. Better safe than sorry. Take care
Gen anaesthetic in Aug14 for knee op. Woke up with lung sharp pain on breathing lasted 2 weeks. Still suffering fatigue. Clear pet Oct16. Lung cancer?
Atelectasis: Gen Anesthesia w/ breathing tube and controlled ventilation can cause the normal lung to be under inflated during surgery. Once you are awake and breathing spontaneously the lungs re inflate to normal capacity. This can cause some pain esp if you are a smoker, Asthmatic, Obese, Obstructive sleep apnea, not physically fit. If pain and fatigue cont. See your PCP.See 1 more doctor answer

Please clarify: There are three different diseases named for dr paget, but none affects the lung directly. Paget's of bone seen on chest x-ray is not a cancer risk. Paget's of breast warns of an underlying breast cancer that might spread. Paget's of the bottom is a low-aggressiveness skin malignancy without lung involvement. Sorry for the confusion, hope you can sort things out & good luck.
NO- not proven but..: Quoting the national institute of drug abuse: "studies have not found an increased risk of lung cancer in marijuana smokers, as compared with nonsmokers." this from an organization that would no doubt like to say it's bad for you! However, those who smoke marijuana & tobacco and very heavy marijuana users may be at risk. See See 4 more doctor answers
My husband was diagnosed with stage 2b non small cell lung cancer, had 2 lobes remov ed from right lung almost 2 months ago. Chemotherapy starts?
Depends: The need for further therapy is dictated by many factors. And it may be that your doctors feel no further chemotherapy is needed now. So it is best to ask the doctors what the next plan or stage of action is and go from there
May be: A question of the form can A show B is almost always answered maybe, because you cannot completely exclude the possibility that it may or may not demonstrate the finding in question. Also a mass has to have at least 1, 000, 000, 000 cells before it is visible on a contemporary scan.
Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more
