Is it normal to have purple patches on the leg, over a week after a car accident?

Bruising?: It can take weeks for bruises to resolve. The body eventually breaks down and reabsorbs the damaged blood products. If your symptoms are improving, then be patient. If you are concerned something else is going on, then see your doctor.

If a person was in a car accident and damaged a major artery in his/her leg, what dangers may he/she be facing?

I got in a car accident over a week ago where I hit another car at 50mph without wearing a seatbelt. My legs have been have been stiff and painful? Why

Oh my aching. ......: When you hit anything, especially at 50 mph, your car isn't the only thing going to absorb impact. The collision impact will also be absorbed through the floorboard into your legs. This puts an abnormally high amount of stress to the supportive soft tissue structures of the legs and feet. Consequently the muscles, tendons, ligament and bones will be in a world of hurt for some time.

I have a painful heavy leg feeling in right side. Had car accident 10/2015 L5-S1 herniation left side worse is it related? What can it be? 216lbs F 20

See comments: I suspect that the motor vehicle accident is responsible for an injury to your back, and you may likely have a lumbar radiculopathy at L-5, S-1 afflicting one or both legs. If herniation points to wrong side, could still wonder about small disc fragment. An EMG test may be of value.

I am having numbness in my left leg and arm. I was in a major car accident about a year ago. Could they be related?

Brain injury: Numbness in the left leg and arm can be caused by a brain injury. When do you think the symptoms started? If they started just after your accident, there is a good chance they are related. If they started recently, it is not likely they are related to the accident one year ago. Numbness covering a large area is an important symptom that should be checked out fast.

I was in a car accident and lost feelings to my legs, am I at more danger for sepsis?

Yes: As you are at risk for wounds and infections in your lower extremities, you are at higher risk for sepsis than someone without that problem, but if you take your positioning and avoiding wounds seriously, you can reduce your risk from the many with your condition that do not.

I had knee surgery on both knees back in 2004 from a car accident, I haven't completely healed from it, what can I do do I need to take out the pins for better use of my legs?

Orthopedics: I'm sure your situation is far too complex for a simple answer. Get a couple of opinions from different orthopedic docs. It depends what you mean by "healed". If you still have chronic open wounds that is almost certainly a chronic infection. If you mean you aren't back to pre-crash function then you may be as good as it is going to get.

Bruising on left leg after a car accident. How long does this generally last?

Bruising on left leg after a car accident. How long does this generally last?

1-6 weeks.: Bruising is simply blood under the skin. Gravity will typically pull it down to your ankles. Swelling is also common. Think of it as a temporary tattoo. It could take 1-6 weeks for your body to absorb it.

Leg pain: This can be normal at 51 but may also result from back injury, do you have any residual back pain from the accident? If so get it checked.

I got into a car accident. I have a large bruise on my leg that keeps getting bigger and had a hard lump under skin. Its been growing every day?

The bruise =bleeding: & if there is a collection of blood called hematoma, the discoloration always get bigger & many colors. The lump = a fibrosis of the clot, the body usually cleans them up. But it takes time. May get smaller & go away, or you are left with a permanent lump of undetermined size. Just be patient, there is no serious thing going to happen. It will just sit there. Ice @ first, after 3-4 days, heat.

My leg has been swollen on my shin from a bruise I got in a car accident almost two years ago, what or how can I get the swelling down or go away?

My leg has been swollen on my shin from a bruise I got in a car accident almost two years ago, what or how can I get the swelling down or go away?

See a orthopedic Dr.: Swelling that lasts two years is cause for concern. You need to see an orthopedic dr. That specializes in knee pathology. It may be fluid retention that needs to be drained but I would think that an MRI of that area is indicated at this time as well.
