Drinking warm water and applying heat to the upper abdomen helps break down the gas and moves it down which is better than forcing yourself to belch which makes you swallow more air. Medications like Nexium (esomeprazole) may or may not work depending on the strength and frequency that you are taking. Reflux: You can certainly take gaviscon and sudafed together, but if you are trying to treat heartburn there are other alternatives that should do better for you. First sudafed works well for nasal congestion and is not likely to give you much improvement in heat burn. Good heart burn medications include: Zantac, Tagamet, Prilosec and Nexium (esomeprazole).
