There are other drug: There are several blood thinners to choose from. Ask your doctor what he/she suggest. Blood can be thinned with heparin(Low molecular weight heparin is best), Warfrin(Coumadin) and Aspirin. The doctor could choose one of them that suits you best. ...Read more

Check with your Dr.: Check with your doctor. Individual physicians sometimes vary regarding this. In general, outpatient treatment of dvt(deep vein thrombosis) consists of long acting Heparin analogues for several days and warfarin. They should overlap until inr is therapeutic. 7-10 days of rest should be adequate. The idea here is that endothelialization of the clot occurs and embolization is less likely. ...Read more

See an orthopod: After making sure that no deep vein thrombosis in that leg, you need to see an orthopedic surgeon, mentioned you had knee pain, inflammation may be affecting the ankle as well. As for breastfeeding, pain killers like paracetamol or NSAIDs as ibuprofen won't affect your baby , but tell your doctor if s/he wants to prescribe something different, good luck ...Read more
