Unclear: Is the testicle tender and swollen? Possibility of inflammation of the testicle or epididymis needs to be considered. Sometimes, the testicle may intermittently twist on its' vascular pedicle and cause intermittent torsion with associated pain. Nonspecific: Unfortunately your symptoms are fairly nonspecific. Potential causes range from upper lumbar disc herniation to groin pull to hip pathology (i.e. Cartilage injury, stress fracture). I would suggest anti-inflammatory meds and backing off on the running for some time. If symptoms do not improve then definitely see a physician.
