Yes it is...: During the surgery, the testicular cord (of which the testicle is at the end of in the scrotum) is manipulated extensively. This can result in that uncomfortable feeling/pain of getting struck in the testicle. Moderate chance: There is of course pain and discomfort after most operations, and Inguinal hernia repair is no exception. The pain however is typically well tolerated, and limited. With a laparoscopic approach, typical recovery times are a few days -2 weeks. With the open approach, 1-3 weeks. Both have their benefits and risks. Doubtful: While it is possible, it doesn't sound like that type of pain. Ilioinguinal nerve is also well away from the space where a laparoscopic inguinal hernia is. It could come in to play however if a tack was placed too deeply at the upper outer edge of the mesh. See your surgeon to find out if its bad enough.
