Think Common First: 2 things-lemierre's is not slight throat pain, but severe pain that often is so bad that you can't swallow your own saliva, which is not consistent with your symptoms.. Secondly, if you take the next 10 million people with a left sided sore throat, maybe one of them will have lemeierre's. The statistical odds are seriously against this. ...Read more

I have had random ear and throat pain on my left side for over a year. Doc ordered an ultrasound and found a 2.25 CM on that side. Doc says my ear and throat pain must be something else. Is this true?

2.25 cm?: It depends on what the 2.25 cm mass is. If it's a lymph node, I would ask if it needs to be biopsied. Most physicians will biopsy or sample nodes or masses that concern patients. I would personally biopsy something if I wasn't sure what it was. ...Read more

Yes possibly but: Other causes should be explored. Pain in the areas you mention could be referred from structures in the anterior mediastinum (upper front part of chest), esophagus (GERD), heart, or upper lungs.
