Could be see doc NOW: Need to get seen, evaluated. Could be gallbladder attack, could lead to stones getting stuck en route, could lead to pancreatitis (inflammation of pancreas), could lead to infection, jaundice, etc.

How serious an issue is gallbladder sludge? I have vomiting episodes occasionally with mid-abdominal pain, but I'm not sure if gallbladder is cause.

Gallbladder sludge: Gallbladder sludge can be asymptomatic or can be a cause of cholecystitis and gallbladder symptoms, including pain and nausea. This can occur in the presence or the absence of gallstones themselves. These : These symptoms could be a sign of a urinary tract or kidney infection. Appendicitis is also a concern but less likely. Regardless, he needs to be evaluated by his pediatrician right away. A simple urine test will be the first step, followed by an additional diagnostic testing that the doctor feels is necessary.
