Left Shoulder Pain With Deep Breath
Sharp left shoulder pain. Hurts more when I take a deep breath, lie down or get up. I can move my left arm with no pain. No physical signs of trauma.
Not clear: Typically if pain is related to movement it is muscle related. You need to also consider pneumonia or in your age range to consider, though unlikely, a blood clot especially if you are on birth control. Heart disease or inflammatory diseases are something to consider although less likely. See your doctor for a full exam and history. ...Read more

NSAIDs like Ibuprofen or Naproxen may help as well. ...Read more

Brachial plexus?: Middle age person with shoulder pain intensified by inspiration & with radiation of pain to wrist needs Neurology evaluation to rule out brachial plexus injury, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, TOS, & lung tumor. Some Neurologists are unfamiliar with physical exam methods to define TOS & uncomfortable with this diagnosis; in which case an Osteopath might be consulted. An MRI of shoulder is indicated. ...Read more
I've been experiencing extreme back and shoulder pain that came w/ very mild fever. I also feel sharp pain in my lower back when I take a deep breath?
Back/shoulder pain: See a doctor ASAP. Pain can be referred from the abdomen by irritating the diaphragm (gall bladder, pancreas, etc.); may be from the lungs with irritation of the pleura (lining around lungs). This may represent infection or non-infectious inflammation, but whichever it proves to be it needs to be evaluated quickly and dealt with appropriately. Please see your doctor right away. ...Read more

Stress: If you have given your Dr all of the information and his examination is normal and basic labs are normal including EKG and your family history of early heart disease or sudden death is negative then not likely heart disease. Attributing it to stress should mean that other causes of chest pain need to be considered. Stress often a wastebasket term we use when don't know what it is. ...Read more

Left shoulder pain when reach behind/across body, lay on left side/on back at night what could this be? It's been happening about a month after accident
Do Some Research: This sounds like a "classic" case of a rotator cuff problem. That is, the tendons that move and/or stabilize the shoulder. If you're careful, it can heal on its own, but if there's been no progress after 4-6 months, go see an orthopedic doctor. Before that, avoid straining above shoulder height. Look on the internet for stretching and mobilizing exercises, use Motrin and apply ice after activity. ...Read more
