Left Shoulder Pain Radiating Down Arm
I have left shoulder pain that is down to shoulder blade & is now causing arm pain everyday. What can I do or what could cause this?
Pinched nerve?: There are many things that can present this way. Part of the differential is a cervical radiculopathy or radiculitis (this is when nerves in your neck become pinched or irritated). If your symptoms persist or worsen (such as weakness), seek medical attention. Commonly (if this is what you do have.), a trial of physical therapy is very successful, but occasionally, surgery may be needed. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Shoulder pain is multifactorial. It can be from bone issues -- like arthritis. It can be from muscle tendon issues -- like a torn rotator cuff, or when a tendon is inflammed. It can also be from nerve issues -- like a bulging disk in your spine. Each diagnosis ...Read more
Throbbing shoulder pain that goes down threw my arm. One day its my left shoulder an the next it will be my right one its been going on for about 2wk?
Could a nerve problem be causing such symptoms? Such as left shoulder pain when breathing deeply and lying down, left arm tingling at all times.
Yes: As tingling in arm is constant, and worsens with change of position, my best guess would be nerve compression within the shoulder. Breathing deeply is like the positional change, it puts further pressure of the nerve as the lungs fill with air and compress anatomy upwards into the nerve compression site. See an orthopedist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Sharp left shoulder pain. Hurts more when I take a deep breath, lie down or get up. I can move my left arm with no pain. No physical signs of trauma.
Not clear: Typically if pain is related to movement it is muscle related. You need to also consider pneumonia or in your age range to consider, though unlikely, a blood clot especially if you are on birth control. Heart disease or inflammatory diseases are something to consider although less likely. See your doctor for a full exam and history. ...Read more

Sharp pain in upper left chest area near left shoulder. Pain comes on sudden, is sharp, I feel it in my shoulder and down my arm, left side, and it last for 5-10 seconds. I've felt it since last night. All day today. Can feel it in left jaw not often?
Left shoulder pain for 3 weeks now, the pain hasn't went down with ice or pain meds, hurts when I move my arm up or away. Rotator cuff tear/tendonitis?
Tendonitis: 30's female w. anterior shoulder pain at abduction, absent mechanical injury, likely has tendonitis of biceps tendon. Heat, rest & topical Cannabis salve + heating pad might help. If problem persists over next 10 days, visit an Osteopath or Physiatrist for evaluation & possible cortisone injection, which will likely resolve symptoms forever or at least several months. Consider repetitive stress. ...Read more
Left shoulder pain that radiates down arm into hand, accompanied by pain from hip (L) down my leg. Only happens when laying down. Cause for concern?
It appears from the radiating pain that you have nerve compression. This happens when a nerve is squeezed between two other structures.
You need to get examined by a physician, Neurologist, who can find the compression sites before the pain becomes longer lasting and possible permanent. ...Read more

Yes: Er eval is a good idea. You have chest pain and left arm symptoms radiating from the neck, these could represent angina, which means an impaired blood supply to the heart muscle from the coronary arteries. There are certainly other causes of chest and arm pain, but your combination of symptoms sounds concerning. It's better to be sure, go to the er. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Severe left shoulder pain by corner socket cannot lift shoulder/arm all the way up what could be possible cause?
I've had left shoulder pain for about 6 weeks. No injury. I cannot raise my arm straight up in the air and I cannot extend it back to undo my bra.?
Muscle/tendon injury: Without a history of a specific injury, your pain could be coming from the fact that you strained the muscles (deltoid or rotator cuff) around the shoulder or sprained the ligaments and joint that join the end of your collar bone (clavicle) to the shoulder blade (acromion portion of the scapula). You should seek a thorough orthopaedic surgeon evaluation if the pain persists past a week. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Left shoulder pain increasing for 5 days. Sharp pain. 8/10. Hurts to lay or turn head. Can move. Neck, shoulder blade & arm hurt. What should I do?
Muscular Pain?: Hi, your recent onset of symptoms and your age suggest that at this point the most likely diagnosis is that you have a shoulder/upper back/neck strain. You don't describe radicular symptoms that would suggest a neurologic etiology. Initial treatment after an H&P and imaging usually starts with NSAIDs and maybe a muscle relaxer and also some therapy exercises to see if your symptoms will get better ...Read more
Broke collar bone in 1971 complete brake in the army bone healled overlaped at 60 having much left shoulder pain lifting arm up or back?
Fell in shower two months ago only hurt wrist. Now left shoulder pain, stiffness, weakness in arm, can't lay on it, pain 8/10, hurts to move it.?????
Soft tissue: Fall onto upper extremity begot acute wrist pain & delayed shoulder pain; suggesting that shoulder disorder is a sympathetic response to primary wrist injury & splinting. Shoulder muscle spasm is likely, followed by tendonitis. In that there was not an instant shoulder injury nor pain, ligament injury is unlikely. Heat, rest, acupuncture, topical Cannabis lotion, & massage are considerations. ...Read more
