Be evaluated: Would want to be checked to make sure it is not a cardiac condition, which can cause a referred pain into the left arm and shoulder. Could be impingement: You may have some inflamed muscles in the shoulder blade region and even into the shoulder, which might also be in spasm, causing some of that pain. I have left shoulder blade pain, pain under left breast and pain that goes from the left side of my neck down my left arm.

Pinched nerve: Because patients having cardiac problems can have these symptoms, you should have this ruled out. But the most common cause is an irritation of a nerve in the neck by a bone spur or herniation that can cause pain or numbness that runs down the arm into the hand. An MRI can usually show the cause of the problem if it does not resolve. Thank you for the question. ...Read more

I'm 32 smoker. Left shoulder blade pain it aches + twitches I've had it about a week onand off but last 2 days constant. Worried lung cancer?

Tic: Lung cancer is painless. So that's not it. You are describing a nervous tic that has more to do with fear than fact. If you can consider cessation-that would be good but it will not stop your apprehension for at least 5 years. Consider Yoga, or some other calming activity. Exercise helps almost everything. Be sure it is safe for you and the go for it! ...Read more

Severe onset of left shoulder blade pain that radiates down left arm & hand. Left arm also tingles. Whole left arm is weak. Neck is fine though.

Radiculopathy: Pain that radiates down the arm can reflect a cervical radiculopathy (shooting pains due to a pinched nerve in the cervical spine). Many patients will have no associated neck pain. These conditions typically resolve with time and conservative treatment. It would be reasonable to watch it for a week or two, and use NSAIDs if needed, before seeing a physician. ...Read more
