Sounds like a: Viral infection. You can just treat the symptoms if you don't get much worse. Mucinexdm will loosen and help with the cough. Dayquil and nyquil help too . Worse sitting?: The only clue in your description is the observation that it's worse sitting. That suggests a muscular cause or possibly a compression neuropathy. Tough to say: The concern would purely be to get any "mass" checked out to be safe and assure it is not something serious. If it is a fatty mass (Lipoma) then they are benign in nature, but could still grow and encroach against vessels or nerves and cause pain, so may need removal.
