Dependency?: Pain meds are highly effective, and highly dangerous. Chances to develop chemical dependency for pain meds are going sky-high after 2-4 weeks of continuous use. Caution is always advised with pain meds as well as limited time of use. Symptoms you describe may reflect mild withdrawal. Nothing needs to be done just survive discomfort. Get yourself evaluated by PMD if your chest pain persist. ...Read more

I am experiencing side pain below my ribs on the left and right side, more so the left. I also had a hysterectomy almost 2 weeks ago.

Atelectasis?: My assumption here would be something called atelectasis, a lung condition which is temporary and which tends to occur after abdominal operations. Essentially, if it hurts to take a deep breath you tend to take shallow breaths which leads to compression of the lungs which can be painful. A chest x-ray would show it. But this is just an assumption, sight unseen of course. ...Read more

I had a total hysterectomy back in July and now I have this constant pain on my left side below rib cage (on side). Pain during/after sex bloating etc?

Referred: That is a common area for pain referred from the area you had surgery. I would make sure your surgeon is aware. The other possibility is you have developed another condition such as gall bladder disease, for example. ...Read more

My breasts very sore, watery discharge from left. Feel heavy. I had hysterectomy two years ago. Pain goes into sternum. Please advise.

Partial hysterectomy a year ago and now have itch tender and painful nipple on left side. What woul help?

Nipple problem: I don't think hysterectomy has to do with the nipple issue. Before anything is recommended, I recommend your nipple be examined to rule out any serious problem. ...Read more

Pelvic aching/swelling 1 yr after total hysterectomy. Just started 3 months ago. More swelling from sitting than standing. Also lymphedema left leg?

Pelvic aching/swelling 1 yr after total hysterectomy. Just started 3 months ago. More swelling from sitting than standing. Also lymphedema left leg?

Venous thrombosis: Swelling in pelvis and legs depends on the response to hysterectomy where if procedure was for tumor a pelvic node dissection was probably performed. Here there is a possibility of iliac and hypogastric vein thrombosis leading to extremity edema as well as aching from obturator and pelvic femoral nerve irritation ...Read more

Why do I have pain in right rib cage after hysterectomy and lower back?

Why do I have pain in right rib cage after hysterectomy and lower back?

Depends: How recently was the hysterectomy? If recent, fluids in the pelvis can irritate the diaphragm and cause back and rib pain. But more concerning is the possibility of blood clot - you need to check with your doctor right away for an exam.

Good luck. ...Read more

Why are breast sore after partial hysterectomy?

Why are breast sore after partial hysterectomy?

Hormones: If you still have your ovaries, then you will still produce hormones. Usually women feel breast tenderness when they are in the premenstrual phase of their cycle. Since you won't bleed, you won't know exactly when this is, but you will still have cycles of hormones. Breast pain can also be from excess caffeine consumption, chocolate, weight gain, or other changes in diet. ...Read more

Is it normal to have sore breasts if you had a hysterectomy and are? Take horomone supplements?

Is it normal to have sore breasts if you had a hysterectomy and are? Take horomone supplements?

Yes: You may be getting a little more Estradiol in the supplements than you were making, especially at 44, so the tender breats could come from the Estradiol you are adding. Usually goes away in a couple of months and can be treated with ibuprofen. ...Read more

Hi I had a hysterectomy about 8 weeks ago and I breasts are very sore and it feels like I have morning sickness day and night. What can I do.

Ask your gyn?: Obviously you have a gynecologist so first step is to discuss symptoms with him/her. If you had ovaries removed you are having menopausal symptoms. Without more of a health history, impossible to answer with any certainty though. ...Read more

I am 7 days post vaginal hysterectomy with posterior andanterior repair. It still feels sore, specially when sitting. Isthis normal or am I too impatient?

Varies: The vaginal hysterectomy has the fastest recovery, if that was the only procedure done you would be feeling well at 7 days, maybe a little pressure.
The posterior repair has the longest recovery time, and you may be sore for up to one month. Hopefully your surgeon recommended some post operative wound care- sitz baths, etc.
If recovery doesn't seem right, call the surgeon. ...Read more

After having my hysterectomy 4wks ago my stomach is sore and sensitive is this normal?

Yes: You are still healing & it's normal to feel sore as you do more activities. Take Ibuprofen with or without tylenol (acetaminophen) for the discomfort. You can substitute naprosyn (aleve) instead of the Ibuprofen if you prefer. By 6 weeks you should feel more normal & get clearance from your surgeon before returning to all normal activities. Take care of yourself & give it a little more time. ...Read more

Had total hysterectomy 12 weeks ago with a epidural. After 3 weeks started to get chronic pain in back where the needle went, still really sore.

Epidural pain: This is not that uncommon. I don't think there is anything specifically that can be done but I have heard this exact complaint before. One woman has told she can predict weather changes based on pain from her epidural/spinal from 5 years earlier. Strange things happen. ...Read more

I had a total hysterectomy at the age of 44. I have noticed recently that my right breast gets sore. My last mammo was about 1 month ago. Cause?

Hormonal changes: Breast pain is often due to fibrocystic changes in the breasts. This can be stimulated by caffeine or other dietary causes or a change in hormones. If you still have your ovaries, you may still be cycling even though your uterus is gone. Continue to get your mammogram once a year. ...Read more
