They could.: When you initially place contacts on, your eyes can feel as if they burn. If this occurs, place a rewetting or artificial tear drop in your eye right after placing the contact. This should relieve the symptom. You can also move the contact over to one side and then recenter it to see if that relieves the burning. Do not use visine "red eye" drops. No it is not an : Infection. Cl wearer do develop these symptoms after wearing lenses for some time. It is usually an allergic reaction to the polymer of the contact lenses.
