Is it possible that my left jugular vein may have bruised when I went on waterslide (Twirling Type) there is mild pain felt.

More likely a muscle: If you have pain when touching the area, it is more likley to by a mild injury to your sternocleidomastoid muscle. Try doing some mild neck stretching and if the pain persists or worsens within the next 10-14 days, you may want to go see your Primary Care doctor. Hope this helps.

Advised that I have a chain of deep swollen lymphnodes on right sided jugular vein? None on left side. What could cause this? Fna booked for 2 weeks

Agree with FNA.: That's certainly concerning. Infection is doubtful given that it's a whole chain. Any other enlarger nodes elsewhere. Might consider hodgkins lymphoma in someone your age. Usual head and neck cancers seen in much older patients. Pet scan worthwhile and would order. ...Read more

My left jugular vein is larger then the right one. And I hear it rushing all the time non-stop. Which doctor should I see? Not my physician for sure

Psychiatry: When one perceives something in their body that a physician cannot see or examine and all other vitals and signs of health are normal...Then one may need to see a counselor about how their mind is perceiving their physical condition. You are not in any way describing a common medical or health condition. Using the words 'rushing' non stop, if your physical exam is normal, represents misperception. ...Read more

Arnold neuralgia on the left has anything to do with the external jugular vein strain? When this happens my throat tighten and feel bites and nu air

Arnold neuralgia on the left has anything to do with the external jugular vein strain? When this happens my throat tighten and feel bites and nu air

No: Arnold's neuralgia is also known as occipital neuralgia and no association to external jugular vein. Their is no entity as jugular vein strain but maybe language barrier in play here. This neuralgia consists of pain in upper neck, head and behind eyes. The tightening in the throat may be more related to the anxiety you have with the onset of symptoms rather than the neuralgia. I hope this helps. ...Read more

What are these red dots on my jugular vein?

What are these red dots on my jugular vein?

Hard to say: It's difficult to say what they may represent without knowing more about them and without seeing them. I'd suggest seeing your primary care physician to help determine the cause. ...Read more

Venous Pulsations: Large vessel pulsations such as the jugular vein area can be visible in normal infants however in certain congenital heart defects, the jugular vein will appear significantly enlarged or show pulsations. Can a person live with one functioning jugular vein if the other is clogged or removed due to cancer or whatever?

Can a person live with one functioning jugular vein if the other is clogged or removed due to cancer or whatever?

No consequence: If one does a true radical neck dissection the 3 structures running in parallel from the top of the neck to the thoracic inlet are the jugular vein, carotid artery and vagus nerve. In most cases the lesion that has metastasized to the neck has invaded the jugular vein which must be removed with the accompanying tumor and metastatic nodes. There is no consequence if one sided vein is removed. ...Read more

My toddlers jugular vein seems to be much more prominent on one side than the other. Had a normal echo as a newborn. Does that indicate a problem

I think: ....I have answered this question. Now it is clear that it is single sided. It would be good to know which side as the right side is more in direct line with the rt atrium (superior chamber of the heart). Tricuspid valve stenosis or insufficiency increases pressure in the chamber and it is transmitted in for of pulsation to the vein in the neck. A pediatric cardiologist should clear all questions. ...Read more
