My left foot started hurting like something smashed it and it keeps going numb. All I was doing was sitting down. What causes this and what can it be?
Sitting and nerves: This sounds like nerve pain. Neurological problems like the spinal nerves getting compressed in the lumbo-sacral region or from pressure on the sciatic notch can cause this. Also sitting can cause pressure on the leg nerves. Try getting up and moving around. Problems of the feet like nerve intrapment or planter fasciitis may cause this. Have a doc exam. ...Read more
I have had a numb left foot, right side from toe to half way down. Has lasted 2-3 months so far- anything to worry about?
The Mapping Game.: It is not so easy to come up with a reason for the type of numbness your having without being able to clinically examine the foot. More than likely the numbness is related to an irritation of a nerve in the foot, caused possibly by acute or chronic pressure. Map out the areas of numbness with a marker. Take a picture of it. Wait and see if the area reduces or increases. Then decide to see a doc. ...Read more
Twice in the past week my left foot from the ankle down turned ice cold to the touch & completely numb as I slept. What can it be?
Depends: You could be putting pressure on a nerve in your foot from the way you sleep but it can also mean there is some nerve impingement as high as your lower back. I suggest you see a Podiatrist first for an evaluation and a possible NCV (nerve conduction velocity) test of the lower extremity might be useful in determining your diagnosis. ...Read more

I have pain stemming from the back of my left leg (calf) down to the ankle and numbness like pins and needles in my toes on the left foot.?
