During venipuncture yesterday, the needle went through the arm vein. Now the ulnar nerve is paining. No visible hematoma. Is it internal bleeding?
Possibly irritated: I don't understand how venipuncture can get to the ulnar nerve but it can certainly puncture some other nerves. I suspect that the pain will be transient lasting no more than a week. Ur are sure it is a vein (blueish color) and there is no skin redness around it and if u can make the veins disappear, well at lease fade and get smaller with total (vertical) elevation of the arm and u have no pain, I would not be concern. If there is redness, pain and a hard cord I would see a physician.

Should not be: Concerned unless you have symptoms of venous occlusion farther down the arm. Increased varicose or large caliber veins usually mean venous insufficiency, or poor venous circulation, away from the heart.
