Not heart attack: Doubt heart attack but the tachycardia needs calrification. Is it due to a cardiac problem or is it due to another cause causing the tachycardia. This what you need to ask your physician. ...Read more

Electrocardiogram (Definition)

Electrocardiogram (ecg, ekg) is a print-out of the electrical forces detected by electrodes on the chest wall, as electricity travels through the heart with each heart beat. The electrodes are placed in different positions, and each position "sees" the electrical activity of the heart from its own vantage point. Abnormalities in signal detected at chest surface ...Read more

Stress test: You are young for cardiac disease unless you have family history of heart disease in younger age. If you do, then you may need a stress test. I have had left arm and shoulder pain for months. I also have chest pain.... it all feels like it's coming from my muscles etc?

Accident 1 mo ago, pinched ulnar nerve. Chest pain when I lay on left or belly. Related? Had blood/ekg all normal. Also GERD symps. Neck shoulder pain

Ulnar nerve Sx: It is most likely that ur gerd is giving you the chest pain rather than your ulnar nerve. Patients w/ulnar nerve compression can have pain, numbness, tingling, cold hands/arms, neck ; shoulder pain; just about any symptom from the fingertips to the neck, but not chest pain. A good way to find out is to have a physician block (numb up) your ulnar nerve and see what sx go away. ...Read more

Having chest pain that comes goes and pain in left arm went to the doc and had EKG everything normal. I checked bp 10 times could that cause arm pain?

Having chest pain that comes goes and pain in left arm went to the doc and had EKG everything normal. I checked bp 10 times could that cause arm pain?

I don't think so: Your pain may be musculoskeletal or stress induced. At your age, coronary artery disease is very low probability. Bp check usually doesn't cause Arm pain but as you are telling me that you checked 10 times that may suggest you are anxious about it which it self can cause psychogenic pain. Try Tylenol (acetaminophen). ...Read more

Physicians trained &: Paid to look only for evidence of advanced disease. Though known >8 decades (via autopsies in US) that 1/2 population has arterial disease by age 7, humans compensate, arteries enlarge (not narrow) in compensation, thus no symptoms/signs for decades, EKGs miss the problem. Why after stressful situation, I got mild chest pain&tightness, upper left arm pain for 10 hours.2 times I went to ER but EKG blood work, X-ray were ok?

Evaluation: It sounds like it's time for a more thorough evaluation by a doctor with a stress test and re-evaluation of your blood pressure and cholesterol. Often cardiac symptoms do not produce abnormal ekg, x-ray or blood testing in the emergency room. You are of an age, with classic worrisome symptoms, that it's worth the time & effort. ...Read more

Smoker?: Do you smoke? If your your pain occurs with exertion and you smoke, you need a stress test. If no to both, the pain is almost surely not your heart. If the pain goes down your arm, nerve impingement in the neck (disc herniation for instance) is a likely bet. Also muscular strain and fibromyalgia can cause this. ...Read more

I check my heart, ecg, echo, holter and stress test, all say that my heart is fine, but I still have a chest pain and left arm pain. What should I do?

Pinching feeling in chest and chest pain. Occasional referred pain in left arm or back. EKG and Stress Test normal. Ultrasound normal. What is it?

I know what it isn't: It isn't your heart. Could be musculoskeletal. Since you've already seen a doctor, you should go back and have him/her look for other causes, none of we which are likely to be serious. There is a condition called pericarditis, inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart, that can produce chest discomfort, but I can't sort that out here, but ur doc can. Good luck. ...Read more

Can hiatel hernia cause chest pain & palpitations? Ekg was normal? Sometimes pain in neck & left arm feels weird like weak. Having stress test tmrw.

Chest pain possible: Hiatal hernias can certainly cause chest discomfort but I would think palpitations would seem less likely to be directly related to the hernia. You are doing the right thing by having a stress test and would certainly do any other cardiac tests recommended. If you believe you are having more severe symptoms or new ones I would seek emergency attention. ...Read more
