I ate a choc. covered rice crispy treat that had 34 carbs 3 hrs after a low carb dinner and my BG was 97. 3 hrs later it was 169. Is this normal?
Yes.: BG goes up and down depending on a LARGE number of factors. One of those factors is what you eat. Measuring BG for curiosity has its place , but generally fasting, pre meal and 2 hour after a meal BG are the most interesting to us docs. I believe it is wise to minimize sugars and simple starches, but i believe a diet with whole grains, vegetables, fruit and low-fat proteins is healthier than a strict low carb diet (which is relatively high in fat and protein).
