Before answering this question, it would be better to define what exactly is meant by the term "upper leg". Orthopaedic surgeons (and others) typically use the term "thigh" to mean the area between the hip and the knee. They use the term "leg" to mean the area between the knee and the ankle. Thus, it is important to specify whether we are discussing pain just below the hip or ...Read more
I have thigh pain usually while sitting at work all day. This just started off/on recently. Scale 1-10 about a 3 or 4. What causes it?
Sitting all day, it's the new american sickness. Our bodies were simply not meant to sit. Unfortunately for those of us that have to, that usually means that over time, we will develop pain.
You can see an osteopathic doctor (do) who practices omt, or a chiropractor who can do hip manipulation.
In addition, muscle relaxers from your doc may help. Heat, stretching, getting up will help. G'luck! ...Read more

Thigh pain: My first answer is missed hip arthritis. This causes pain from groin to knee, worse getting up from sitting. Commonly missed by spine surgeons too focused on abnormal MRI and not performing a complete exam. Not intentional, just happens. If fusion has failed, this could also cause pain into groins/thighs. A good exam and studies including x-rays would be helpful. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Yes.: Biomechanical orthotics change how the muscles in your feet and legs function during the gait cycle. For this reason, we instruct our patients to break in a new pair of orthotics over time, so as to not put too much strain on the muscles. Another answer is they might need to be adjusted. Talk to the doctor who prescribed them, who may also give you stretching exercises to do. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
