Growing?: Hard to say without examining you. Possibilities include fatty tumors(benign), cysts, abscesses? Calcified lesions? Cancer is very rare but not impossible. If it has not changed over many years it is probably benign (not cancer). If it is growing rapidly you should have it seen asap. The "hard" part worries me. See your md. Possible herpes: Ingrown hairs, esp if you shave, are quite common, but they are usually solitary, and dermatitis not recurrent.
