Hi. : Hi. I cannot diagnose your bumps. You described them as being rather small. Pimples and pustules in the pubic area can sometimes be folliculitis. The hair follicles can become infected. The infected follicles can be tender and swollen. Friction of your clothes may be contributing to this. If you shave your pubic area that can also be a cause. Think about using warm moist compresses on the area. Possibly, wear some clothes that are not tight and binding in that area. If they don't resolve, ask your parents to take you to see your doctor or a dermatologist. ...Read more

How can I prevent large, painful bumps in genital area. I don't shave just use scissors to trim pubic hair. Every month i get at least two bumps.

Folliculitis.: This is an example of folliculitis. There are a couple of ways to treat this--topicals such as topical antibiotics or topical corticosteroids. However, a more definitive treatment for this pesky condition would be to have laser hair removal. Even a couple of treatments would reduce the hair diameter enough to likely prevent these large painful foci of inflammation at the site of the hair follicle. ...Read more

Skin Abscess: It's unlikely to be herpes. Herpes tends to be a patch of vesicles that ooze clear secretions. It's most likely a skin infection if it's not on the shaft of the penis; that being said you should still get tested for stds. ...Read more

Folliculitis?: This is obviously some sort of bacterial infection in the skin, like folliculitis or pimples, maybe due to staph or strep. This become a lot more common in the modern era when young people shave their pubic areas. Since they are painful and large, you should see a doctor; you might need an antibiotic. In the meantime, no shaving for a while. Don't worry about STDs, which don't behave this way. ...Read more

I have one big raised bump in my pubic area and one or two small bumps but not in clusters what are the chances that this is herpes?

I have one big raised bump in my pubic area and one or two small bumps but not in clusters what are the chances that this is herpes?

Doubt herpes, but...: This is not likely to be herpes, which generally does not cause sores in hairy areas, especially with the intitial HSV infection. And herpes rarely causes a "big raised bump" anywhere. I'm betting on pimples or folliculitis. But if you remain concerned, or if herpes seems possible because you are at risk for STD (e.g. new or unsafe partner), see a doctor or clinic. Better safe than sorry! ...Read more
