Watch it yourself: Get acquainted with how your gland feels. If one of the nodules starts getting appreciably bigger while the rest stay the same, get seen. This may happen but isn't likely. Best wishes. ...Read more

Any growth or deposit in the body or on its surface may be casually termed a nodule until its character is determined by the familiarity of the physician with it or by the results of a biopsy if it is not so obvious. The term is casual ...Read more

Right thyroid cysts. Dominant mid pole left predominantly solid left thyroid nodule subcentimeter solid upper pole left nodule. What does this mean?

Thyroid cyst- benign: The nodule in left upper pole, which is solid in nature, did they do any blood test to r/o excess thyroid hormone secretions? Thyroid cysts are benign fluid collections most of the time from degeneration of cells (dead cells in a particular area). The nodule needs to be followed up to r/o thyrotoxicosis, possible malignancy. Fine needle Biopsy, Radioactive Iodine uptake study will r/oabove condns. ...Read more

I have bilateral partially cystic thyroid nodules. Biopsy done of the larger one, came back "follicular lesion of unknown origin" what does that mean?

Variable meaning: Follicularā€patterned lesions of the thyroid are common; these include hyperplastic/adenomatoid nodules, follicular adenoma, follicular carcinoma and follicular variants of papillary carcinoma. Repeat biopsy with a sample sent for a genetic afirma assay may give additional useful information. In addition, discuss with your endocrinologist. ...Read more

Possible: May be if nodule has fluid (Cyst) may not get cells (how many times was done? More than twice is unusual). If strongly suspicious for malignancy an image guided core needle biopsy, or even removal (surgery) Discuss with your doctor, plan of treatment Do not ignore if necessary take second opinion. ...Read more

I have a tyroid nodule, 1.6 x. 9 x 3 cm. Heterogeneously attenuating predominantly cystic right thyroid nodule. What's it mean and could it be cancer?

Thyroid: Its highly unlikely to be cancer. The odds favor this being a thyroglossal duct cyst. Pts often present at you age. You don't say where exactly your mass is. TDC is usually near midline. Another possibility is a branchial cleft cyst which is also a congenital problem. Your docs may want to do a CT guided fine needle biopsy. Hang in there. I think you will be fine. ...Read more

What does this diagnosis mean, Left thyroid: cystic lesion with hemosiderin-laden macrophages. Its my cytology report from a thyroid nodule.

Probable benign: Most cystic lesions and not pure cysts usually respresent breakdown and hemmorhage into a benign neoplsm. The presence of macrophages and hemosiderin suggest some form of inflammatory condition such as Hashimoto's thryoiditis. Unless there are changes on physical and thyroid scan suggesting further growth, conservtive management is suggested. ...Read more

12mm slightly complex THYROID nodule (R) + 10x6x5mm hypoechoic nodule (R). Impression: largest predominantly solid appearing nodule is 10mm. GET FNA?

FNA: The 12 mm nodule and the 10 mm nodule should both get an FNA. I'd advise doing the FNAs with thyroid cancer gene panel testing. Most are benign, so please don't be concerned until and unless you get bad results from the FNAs. Good luck! ...Read more

I had an ultrasound 2 years ago and a"predominantly solid. 8cm thyroid nodule"was discovered. Should this be followed doctor never even mentioned it?

Wouldn't a 1.1x1c.M. Solid thyroid nodule already be growing? It couldn't have started at that size could it?

Thyroid nodule: Of course the nodule starts from small abnormal cells to large mass. Thyroid nodule is either not noticed or checked by patient. It can be incidental finding on us or ct for neck for other reasons. Important thing is to take care of it. See endocrinologist. Pls read http:// doctorrajput. Com thanks. ...Read more

Does a solid 1.1 CM thyroid nodule need to be biopsy?

My husband has been diagnosed with thyroid nodules which are solid and have micro calcifications. What does this mean?

Needs a biopsy: The most common form of thyroid cancer (papillary) has certain features on us that let us know if a nodule is worrisome. Microcalcifications is one of them. He should have a biopsy. Although thyroid ca is generally curable, it is a bit more serious in males than females and thus this should be followed up with a u/s guided - needle biopsy by an experienced physician. ...Read more

What is a innocuous and isoechoic thyroid nodule. Also what is a heterogenous nodule with tiny cystic spaces, it measures 0.7cm?

Hard to say: It's hard to say without seeing the actual images. An isoechoic nodule is typically nonspecific and potentially falls in the indeterminate range (ie need follow up or biopsy). Same thing for a heterogenous "nodule" with tiny cystic spaces. A "complex cyst" with tiny cystic spaces can be a sponge like cyst that is typically benign. ...Read more
