If I have a laparotomy to remove an ovarian cyst will I be out for a week?

Likely more: In our hands, even with laparotomy, most are done as an outpatient. Recovery though depends on so many factors. Motivated patients without lifting demands in their work might get back in one week. Others might be 2 or 3 weeks? Lifting is the biggest limiting factor. Good luck. ...Read more

44 with septated complex ovarian cysts. Left is 5cm, right is 12cm. Regular gyno says she can do laparotomy but should it be done by gyno onco?

Consult a Gyn onco: Even though there is a reasonable probability that your ovarian cysts may be benign and that you do not have an ovarian malignancy or a cancer, it would be best to consult a Gyn oncologist who can offer you an adequate preoperative evaluation (tumor markers, etc.) and discuss the risks/benefits of laparoscopic/robotic exploration versus laparotomy and possible cancer staging procedures. ...Read more

8 cm is: Rather large. I am sure your doctor considered risks v. Benefits of the operation. Not likely to be cancer at your age, but not impossible. Follow your doctor's advice. If you don't like with his advice, you can always get a second opinion, but I think it is going to be the same. ...Read more

I had an ovarian cyst laparotomy in june. 2014. Since then I still have recurrent pregnancy symptoms with regular feeling of a twist in my lower abdom?

Hard to know...: "Pregnancy symptoms" = lots of things = nausea, breast tenderness, abdominal fullness, swelling of breasts or genitalia, etc. It's hard to answer without knowing this. Would you please ask again, and be more specific, or consult me directly?

Regarding a "twist" sensation, this is likely muscle spasms. Your muscles were sewn shut and they often spasm when they pull on stitches with activity. ...Read more

Should I still have a hard time walking, and getting up after 5 days of having my appendix removed and ovarian cyst surgery?

Depends: You did not say if your operation was laparoscopic or not - that would make a difference. Either way, you will be sore afterward for a while, but by day 5 - I would expect you to be feeling/doing better and able to get up some. If you think this is a problem, call your surgeon and get in to be checked out to make sure nothing else going on. Be well. ...Read more

Lap for ovarian cyst kissing ovaries 10 wks ago. Been to hospital yesday and need extensive surgery in 4 months time to manage endo wot will be done??

Unclear: It is not clear here what exactly is going on. It sounds like you will need to schedule an appointment with a Gynecologist who can evaluate your past surgery information as well as any tests, sonograms and exam that have been done recently to determine the current problem. Then a plan of care can be arranged to treat whatever is happening now. They should explain the plan and answer questions ...Read more
