Not necessarily: In young patients such as yourself, ovarian cysts typically resolve spontaneously. I have 13x10x11 CM simple fluid filled ovarian cyst, normal ca-125 result I don't want to remove my ovary how can I save it? Is laparoscopy better?

Could be: I have removed many cysts like this laparoscopically while saving the ovary, but the size you give (13 cm?) is concerning. It is safe to remove this and conserve the ovary if the concern for malignancy is low; you need to discuss this with your doctor/surgeon and good luck. ...Read more

June 2013 I had laparoscopy to remove multiple ovarian cysts, tomorow I'm due for another one. How soon do they return? I'm in severe pain, 28yo

May not ever return: Ovarian cysts generally develop during each menstrual cycle, in young women. Frequently one cyst per cycle becomes dominant and may enlarge to the point of discomfort prior to ovulation. There are many other causes of pelvic pain (scar tissue, endometriosis, infection). There is a good chance that your cysts may play only a small role in your pain. Cyst removal/ surgery may not always be needed. ...Read more

I have 6cm and 8 CM ovarian cysts. My gyn suggested laparoscopy. Can birth control pills help to reduce the size of the cysts? Other alternatives?

Unlikely: It is safe to take OCP for few months, but it is unlikely that they will help to reduce the cyst size. You have two alternatives-do nothing and wait or undergo surgery to remove the cyst. Not all cyst created equal-if cyst has complex appearance on sonogram, increasing in size, accompanied by pain, or elevated tumor markers such as CA-125 then it is more likely that woman will need surgery ...Read more

I am 28 years old. I had a ruptured ovarian cyst. I eat a lot, urinate a lot, and feel sick. My weight has dropped from 54.9 kgs to 52.5 kgs in three weeks. Is sudden weight loss after laparoscopy normal?

NOT NORMAL: Especially that nothing major was found. I would however rule out diabetes in the first place before checking other things. You lost weight, eat a lot a pee a lot. Have your blood sugar examined first. Same time one could look for thyroid function as well. If all these come out normal and the weight loss continues you need a good diagnostician... ...Read more
