Watch, wait, & see..: I would just watch, wait, and see despite some 10 weeks after lap inguinal hernia repair as long as being tolerable and getting better slowly but surely day by day. How to? Follow instructions in http://formefirst.com/eNewsletter06.html. More? Ask your surgeon timely. Best wish to recovery... ...Read more

Hernia (Definition)

A hernia is a hole in the abdominal wall thru which the inner lining protrudes thru, creating a sac. Organs from within the abdominal cavity, such as the intestine, can protrude thru the hole and get stuck in the sac. Many hernias develop during fetal life and become evident in childhood or as an adult. Some develop following a prior abdominal operation. The cornerstone ...Read more

2 months after bilateral lap. Inguinal hernia repair, i feel my erection twisted to the right, and right test hangs higher than usual. Is it related?

Doubt it: If the angulation of the penis is severe, it could represent peyronie's disease. While it appeared after a lap inguinal hernia repair, the problem is in the shaft of the penis. I don't think the repair is causative. I would see a urologist to find out more. One testis hanging higher is normal. ...Read more

After 5 months after lap inguinal hernia surgery, i still feel pain in cord structures just above the testicle. As if someone is squeezing it?

Normal: It is normal to have some discomfort after any type of hernia repair. The length of time is variable, and there is nothing to worry about if it is minor. If it is significantly limiting your activities, see your surgeon for an exam. Rarely, there can be long term severe pain requiring mesh removal. Hope this helps! ...Read more

Had lap inguinal hernia repair in right. 1 week post op. I feel a light pain when i touch my right testis. Is it normal?

Yes: It is very common to have a sensation like this because laparoscopic hernia repair occurs in the space that is common to where the spermatic cord comes from on both sides. Be sure however to ask you surgeon about it at the post op appointment. ...Read more

How long should I wait before i can do my normal weightlifting activity? I'd lap inguinal hernia repair. I'm on 6th day post-op. Feeling better(60%).

How long should I wait before i can do my normal weightlifting activity? I'd lap inguinal hernia repair. I'm on 6th day post-op. Feeling better(60%).

Avoid re-operation!: Patience! great you want to stay physically fit ; get back to weightlifting right away. However, i'm sure your surgeon told you how long to hold off on heavy activity to promote healing. Lifting sooner than he recommended risks a re-herniation ; potentially more involved surgical repair that will further delay you resuming lifting. Best wait until he checks the operative site ; clears you to lift. ...Read more

3+ mnths since lap. Inguinal hernia repair, base of the penis still sore on the right side, sperm cord achy, erection twisted. Was normal b4. Related?

Very likely.: If these problems are new and began after the surgery, then it is logical to believe that it is related. Most likely it is a result of problems with the mesh that was implanted and it's affects on the nerve and/or surrounding tissue. After inguinal hernia, surgeons tend to wait a while (3-6 months) to allow for problems to resolve on their own. Continue to follow with your surgeon and see. ...Read more

Randomly throughout the day i get a vibrating feeling near my right groin. When it first started happening i had my purse on my lap and thought it was my cell phone. I've had a femoral and a inguinal hernia before on the same side. Could it be related?

Randomly throughout the day i get a vibrating feeling near my right groin. When it first started happening i had my purse on my lap and thought it was my cell phone. I've had a femoral and a inguinal hernia before on the same side. Could it be related?

Probably unrelated: Sounds like it could be more if a vascular problem, something medically known as a "thrill". I have myself felt this sensation in my lower leg at times in the past, with no problems arising, and no formal explanation. May also be related to the sensory nerves misperceiving some other input. In any case, see your primary care for an exam at least. If normal, probably ok to observe. ...Read more
